Today at Legal Blog Watch I have a post about Ian Best’s interview about blogs with U.S. District Judge Richard G. Kopf. The judge’s thoughts are interesting. As I point out, however, Kopf was not the first federal judge to cite to a blog. That distinction may belong to U.S. District Judge William g. Young, as I noted in January 2004.

In 2011, he was named to the inaugural Fastcase 50, honoring “the law’s smartest, most courageous innovators, techies, visionaries and leaders.” Earlier in his career, he was editor-in-chief of several legal publications, including The National Law Journal, and editorial director of ALM’s Litigation Services Division.
