The case management software company TrialWorks was reportedly hit by a ransomware attack, shutting down its platform for at least four days and locking some lawyers out of their case files.
According to the TechBento blog, the attack started last Sunday and lasted at least through yesterday. I have not been able to confirm with the company if the situation has been resolved. One customer on Twitter told me as of 8:49 p.m. ET on Oct. 17 that her firm was still unable to access their files.
I have attempted to reach executives at the company to learn more about the status of the system. The company is scheduled to be an exhibitor at the annual meeting of the Defense Research Institute starting today.
Several lawyers turned to Twitter to express frustration over the situation.
