A new award announced today is intended to recognize and celebrate the visionary contributions shaping the future of knowledge management and innovation in the legal profession.
Called the LexPrize Innovation Award, it will be presented at the Knowledge Management & Innovation for Legal (KM&I) conference taking place in New York City in October.
Conference organizer Patrick DiDomenico, founder and CEO of InspireKM Consulting, said he was inspired to launch the award by the “remarkable stories” of innovation shared by participants during the inaugural KM&I for Legal Conference in 2023.
The LexPrize Award is designed to honor “genuinely impactful innovation in the KM&I community — the deeply useful changes that actually improve the user experience around the practice or business of law.”
Any member of a law firm or corporate legal department may apply. The winner will be selected based on three primary criteria:
- Catalyst for Change: The project or initiative demonstrates a novel and profound impact for the organization.
- Planning and Execution: Demonstrated planning and successful implementation of the project or initiative, showing strategic foresight and adept execution.
- A Model for Change: The project or initiative serves as an example of positive behavior change and improved user experience in the organization.
Applications open today and must be submitted no later than Aug. 30, 2024. Three finalists will be selected and notified on Sept. 20, 2024, and they will present their projects during a session of the KM&I for Legal conference on Oct. 17, 2024.
The conference’s advisory board will review the applications and select the three finalists. The final winner will be selected by a vote of attendees at the conference. The winner will be announced during the cocktail reception at the end of the day.
Bonus: As a media sponsor of this conference, I will interview the three finalists about their projects on my LawNext podcast.
