Two veterans of legal media have partnered to launch a communications firm to represent to represent legal and business clients in marketing, media relations, crisis management and more.

Called LIMELIGHT, the new firm has been launched by Kenneth Gary and Erin Harrison, both former legal journalists who worked at ALM and both of whom have since worked in a variety of public relations, marketing and business development roles.

Their new firm, they say, will leverage technology and industry expertise serve clients navigating complex legal and business landscapes, offering a suite of growth communications services, including strategic planning, media relations, crisis management, content creation, digital and social media marketing, video production, and event management.

“We created LIMELIGHT to address the evolving needs of businesses operating in highly regulated industries and a digital-first world,” said Gary in a statement announcing the launch. “Our extensive understanding of where law and business converge allows us to develop novel data-driven strategies that deliver tangible results for our clients.”

Gary, who was trained as both a lawyer and journalist, most recently worked as chief growth officer at Infinite Global, a communications firm that serves legal, financial and corporate clients, and, before that, as a partner Baretz+Brunelle, a PR firm that serves law firms and others in the legal industry.

From 2009-2014, Gary worked at the legal and business publishing company ALM, where he was publisher of The National Law Journal and Legal Times. From 2015-2015, he returned to ALM as vice president and group publisher for the law firm segment, overseeing a portfolio of brands that included Law.com, The National Law Journal & Legal Times, Corporate Counsel, and Inside Counsel.

Harrison was at ALM from 2013-2017, where she served as associate publisher and editor-in-chief of Inside Counsel, editor-in-chief of Legaltech News, and editor-in-chief of multi-platform content.

Since leaving ALM, Harrison has held roles at several PR firms serving the legal market, including most recently as a senior vice president at The Bliss Group and NextTech Communications, and formerly as a managing director at Plat4orm and Baretz+Brunelle.

“Limelight is more than just a communications firm,” Harrison said in the announcement. “We are strategic partners who help our clients navigate unique challenges, seize new business opportunities, and achieve their objectives with speed and precision.”

Full disclosure: I formerly worked at ALM as editorial director of litigation services and editor-in-chief of The National Law Journal, but I was there before either Gary or Harrison.
