Following on the heels of its $11 million Series A raise last June, Alexi, a company that uses generative AI to produce detailed legal research memos for litigators, today announced a significant expansion of its platform with new tools for case management, document analysis and summarization, and more.

In addition, it announced plans for further expansion in 2025, including capabilities for generating a variety of court-ready pleadings, with full coverage of the litigation workflow.

Alexi’s core product has been generating legal research memos for any U.S. jurisdiction.

According to the company, key features of Alexi’s upgraded platform include:

  • Context-aware case management with matters. Users can now organize litigation files with “Matters,” a system that assigns unique file numbers for better billing, document tracking, and workflow efficiency. As a user builds the litigation file, Alexi tracks the key issues and milestones.
  • Comprehensive document analysis and summarization. Upload a legal document of any length or format and Alexi will summarize it in seconds, delivering key insights and exportable summaries that can be shared with colleagues.
  • Workflow document management Hub. Using the Workflow functionality, users can track their litigation timeline with all case-related documents and activities in one place, with timestamps for easy navigation and retrieval.
  • AI Conversational Assistant. User can get immediate answers to legal questions, producing either a quick response or a detailed memo, relating to any U.S. jurisdictions.
  • Enterprise-grade security enhancements. Alexi operates as a closed system, ensuring that all client data is secure and private.

In addition, Alexi is now an extensible platform designed to easily integrate functionality for every meaningful document or task that arises throughout a litigation file. That includes the abililty, coming in 2025, to generate all sorts of court-ready pleadings, with full coverage of the litigation workflow, the company says.

The video above briefly demonstrates some of these new capabilities:

  • The lawyer starts by asking Alexi to summarize key facts within meeting notes.
  • She then uses Alexi to analyze and interrogate volumes of documentary evidence she’s uploaded.
  • Next, she requests a research memo, and within minutes, gets a detailed memo with analysis and case law.
  • When a client asks a legal question, she uses Alexi to get a quick answer, and then has Alexi draft an email to the client.

“This new Alexi product is built on our strong foundation in AI-generated legal research work products; now, however, we’re revolutionizing the entire litigation workflow,” said Mark Doble, CEO of Alexi. “Our focus has always been on building AI that is scalable and easy to understand, prioritizing the unique needs of litigators. By actively seeking feedback from our users since day one, we ensure the quality, reliability, and consistency of our platform remains unmatched. Embracing AI empowers litigators to enhance their services and deliver better outcomes for their clients.”

Alexi’s legal capabilities span both the U.S. and Canada, covering all 50 U.S. states, Washington, D.C., federal law, and all Canadian provinces, territories, and federal law, except Quebec.
