At its Inspire customer conference today in Atlanta, NetDocuments said it is using artificial intelligence to transform from a content management platform to an “intelligent document management system” that will enable it to be the cornerstone of an organization’s AI strategy.
“Building on the foundation of its industry-leading cloud platform, the NetDocuments intelligent DMS delivers a wide variety of AI solutions that provide not only an entry point for legal professionals to securely leverage AI on their corpus of knowledge, but to also access and customize AI apps that tackle common legal tasks, mitigating the need for one-off point AI tools coming to market,” the company said in a press release issued at the conference.
Even before today, NetDocuments was well on its way towards a more “intelligent” DMS, having last year introduced ndMAX, a generative AI tool built directly into the NetDocuments platform to enhance various document-related workflows, starting with PatternBuilder MAX, a “turbocharged” version of its PatternBuilder document assembly software designed to enable firms to create custom AI automations tailored to the needs of their specific practices.
Then, two months ago, the company unveiled ND Max Assist, an intelligent agent that uses AI and natural language processing to help users work more efficiently and effectively with their documents. ndMAX Assist enables users to interact with NetDocuments in a conversational manner through natural language commands and queries to find information, answer questions in documents, create summaries, and draft responses or revisions to content.
With these announcements, NetDocuments will be providing its customers with a set of AI-powered capabilities that include:
- The ndMAX Legal AI Assistant, which is currently in closed beta and will be available globally by year-end.
- App Builder powered by PatternBuilder MAX.
- An ever-growing suite of pre-built, legal specific apps.
At today’s conference, NetDocuments introduced new pre-built legal apps designed to integrate with legal professionals’ daily workflows. They include:
- Issues List Generator. Automatically compiles key issues from contracts or case files for focused review.
- Contract Playbook Generator. Creates contract negotiation playbooks with clause suggestions, fallback positions, and risk strategies.
- Deposition Prep. Organizes case materials and prepares key questions for streamlined deposition preparation.
- Due Diligence. Automates document review during mergers and acquisitions, flagging risks and ensuring thorough analysis.
- Immigration Letter Drafter. Draft tailored support letters for immigration cases.
NetDocuments says it decided which legal apps to pre-build by working with its customers over the past 18 months to identify high-value use cases that could deliver immediate benefits.
A key benefit of these apps for customers, NetDocuments says, is that they do not have to create relationships with new vendors in order to address one-off needs.
“We’ve all experienced the frustration of having to subscribe to multiple streaming services just to watch the shows we want,” said Josh Baxter, CEO of NetDocuments. “Legal professionals shouldn’t face that same headache when it comes to legal AI technology.
“With our intelligent DMS, firms get access to the essential AI apps and AI-driven tools they need to drive efficiency, productivity, and accuracy, without the hassle of integrating countless vendors. Rather than taking your content to AI, we are bringing AI to your content.”
