AllRize

Company. Rizeware Solutions

Elevator Pitch. AllRize is a complete solution for law firms seeking to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and get more business. A complete practice management solution built on Microsoft Dynamics 365, AllRize offers a seamless integration of CRM, marketing, matter management, accounting, and more. AllRize is a SaaS solution powered by Microsoft’s Copilot AI technology, enabling firms to support local and remote users, automate tasks, accelerate productivity, and deliver a better customer experience.

What makes your company unique or innovative? There are five distinct capabilities that, together, separate AllRize from other law practice software products on the market.

  1. Complete Practice Management. Too many law firms rely on a disparate set of software tools that are often outdated and rarely work well together. This results in wasted time and operational inefficiencies that can negatively impact firms in many ways. In contrast, AllRize is a comprehensive Law Practice Management solution that seamlessly integrates multiple functions – such as marketing, client intake, matter management, accounting, and much more – into one seamlessly integrated software solution. This unmatched functional integration helps streamline workflows, enhance team collaboration, improve firm productivity, and deliver a superior client experience. And rest assured, new capabilities will continually be added to AllRize based on the needs of our customers.
  2. Modular Platform Architecture. The AllRize engineering team spent nearly 10 man-years building an innovative software solution based on a highly scalable, open platform architecture. This architecture provides a foundation that supports multiple software modules and delivers superior AI intelligence and automation to each software module. The result is a software solution that provides unmatched flexibility to customers, enabling them to configure the solution with exactly the capabilities they require, then add more functionality whenever it’s needed. The platform also includes out-of-the-box integrations that enable law firms to leverage their existing software tools as needed.
  3. SaaS-Based Software Offering. AllRize was designed as a cloud-native application, hosted on Microsoft Azure, and delivered over the Internet as a subscription-based software service. This delivery model eliminates the need for costly servers that can clutter law firm offices and create security vulnerabilities. And software updates happen automatically and continuously, without any need for legal staff to be involved. Lastly, it also enables secure access to AllRize by local and remote users – anywhere, anytime, which means that law firms can hire the best talent, regardless of where they are located.
  4. Microsoft Dynamics Integration. More law firms build their digital foundation on Microsoft technology than any other vendor. For that reason, AllRize became a Microsoft partner and developed a platform that is deeply integrated with Microsoft Dynamics 365 technology. Why is that important? Microsoft invests nearly $30B annually in R&D for its vast suite of software solutions, including Microsoft Dynamics. These ongoing investments result in a steady stream of new technological innovations, many of which are continuously added to Dynamics. As a result, these new Microsoft innovations are automatically made available to every AllRize customer because, again, the platform is literally integrated with Microsoft Dynamics.
  5. AllRize Engineering Expertise. Lastly, our software engineering team continuously leverages and adapts Microsoft technologies (including the market-leading Copilot AI engine) to develop new AllRize features and functions specifically optimized for the legal market. This combination of Microsoft R&D and AllRize expertise in legal workflows and processes is unmatched in the legal tech market. And it allows us to achieve our goal: to empower every legal team with the automation and intelligence required to improve their operational efficiency and accelerate the growth of their business.

The final verdict is this: AllRize is the most complete, most intelligent, and most flexible Law Practice Management solution available.

What problem does your product solve? It empowers law firms to automate time-consuming tasks, improve team collaboration, accelerate staff productivity, regain access to more billable hours, and deliver a more positive client experience. Because AllRize is seamlessly integrated with Microsoft Dynamics, it also accelerates the learning curve and time to value because most law offices already rely on Microsoft productivity tools. Also, AllRize contains integrated marketing capabilities that enable law firms to easily plan and execute marketing campaigns that help attract new clients and increase revenue growth.

Who are your competitors? There are multiple software vendors delivering law practice management software, but AllRize is the only solution seamlessly integrated with Microsoft Dynamics.

When was the company founded and where is it located? 1/1/2020. Fort Lauderdale, FL is HQ. Other remote offices in California, Pennsylvania, Texas and Morocco.

Who is your target customer (small firm, large firm, law department, etc.)? The primary focus is law firms across all practice areas with 20-500 employees.

What is the price of your product or service? AllRize is a modular software solution, so pricing depends on which software modules the law firm initially wants to deploy. Other factors affecting the cost are the number of users that will use AllRize, the subscription preference (1 or 3 years), and any professional services required (such as data migration from legacy systems). In the end, pricing is very competitive with other products in this market segment.

Tell us more about your traction. The AllRize platform was formally announced in September 2024 following extensive beta testing with a group of law firms across the US. Several of these firms are now migrating to production deployment. The revenue from these initial deployments has allowed us gradually expand our sales and marketing operations.

Describe your plan for growing the company over the next five years. We will continue to invest in our sales and marketing efforts to accelerate demand for AllRize. In addition, we are carefully developing a reseller channel that will give us access to a significantly larger group of prospective customers.

Have you received outside funding? No outside funding.

Describe any ways in which your company’s leadership and/or workforce are diverse. The AllRize team is truly global, with a carefully recruited team deployed across the US, as well as specific regions within India, Africa and the Middle East.

Describe any ways in which your company contributes to a more diverse and inclusive legal tech community? Our company is deeply committed to fostering diversity and inclusion within the legal tech community. We actively contribute in several meaningful ways:

  • Inclusive Hiring Practices: We prioritize inclusive hiring practices, ensuring that our recruitment processes are designed to attract a diverse pool of candidates. This approach helps us build a team that reflects a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives.

  • Partnerships and Collaborations: We collaborate with organizations and initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion in the legal tech sector. By partnering with these groups, we help to amplify their efforts and contribute to a more inclusive industry.
  • Inclusive Culture: Within our own organization, we cultivate an inclusive culture where every team member feels valued and respected. This culture is reflected in our policies, practices, and everyday interactions, setting a positive example for the broader community.

Anything else you’d like us to know? We provide white-glove service to accelerate deployments and minimize disruption to the customer’s business. And we provide customer support at zero cost for the first 12 months.

Belt

Company. Belt Software Inc.

Elevator Pitch. Belt helps solve the problem of managing teams in remote and hybrid work by using a natural approach to work management and combining meetings and tasks into a unified calendar. Our AI-first approach identifies requests in emails and chats, turning them into tasks and meetings to give visibility into all work. This bottom-up approach helps managers understand hidden bias and whether staff have too much or too little work, providing the insights they need to manage better.

What makes your company unique or innovative? Our founders are well known in the industry having previously founded Prosperoware, which was sold to Litera in 2022. Having worked together for more than 25 years, Keith Lipman, CEO and Sheetal Jain, CTO set up Belt in 2023 with a vision of solving the issue around people managing people in a hybrid or remote world. After speaking with more than 60 law firms, they realized that this was a common issue and so they developed AI-first Natural Work Management platform. By natural, we mean, a solution that is designed to fit seamlessly into the way people already work, reducing the need for significant behavioral changes. This unique approach helps managers gain a better understanding of the actual work their team has undertaken on any given day.

What problem does your product solve? Hybrid work broke the world. We are now struggling to manage people on a daily basis. Prior to that, managers would just walk over to their team and check in and understand who’s doing what. Because of this, getting true insight into how and where they are spending their time has been difficult. Belt solves this by providing managers with a bottom-up approach to managing their teams, meaning fewer status meetings and check-in communications.

Who are your competitors? Belt fits into the Work Management space with platforms like Monday.com and Asana who are known for their project management ability and a top-down approach. These products are not well-adopted in law firms. These platforms are not part of their daily workflow because they need to be updated separately.

 Demo Video. See video here.

When was the company founded and where is it located? 1/9/2023. Ardmore, Penn. (HQ); London, UK; Prishtina, Kosovo.

Who is your target customer (small firm, large firm, law department, etc.)? Our primary target customers are managers and partners within law firms of any size who oversee legal teams in hybrid and remote environments. Belt is designed to help these leaders keep track of their team’s work on various cases, manage billable hours, and ensure everyone is assigned enough work, and the right work.

What is the price of your product or service? The price range is from $12/month to $40/month.

Tell us more about your traction. Belt was introduced to the market in May 2024 and is currently being implemented by Am Law 200 and Magic Circle firms, who are looking to implement it at the beginning of 2025. We currently have a pipeline of over 60 firms.

Describe your plan for growing the company over the next five years. Over the next five years, Belt’s focus is on continuing to build the presence in law firms and corporate legal departments ranging from the smallest to the largest.

Have you received outside funding? No outside funding

Bot Mediation

Company. Bot Mediation, Inc.

Elevator Pitch.  Bot Mediation introduces the legal industry’s first AI-powered mediator, transforming dispute resolution to be more accessible, efficient, and fair. The experience mirrors traditional mediation: Parties submit briefs, schedule a session, and log into Bot’s secure platform to negotiate. An AI-trained avatar guides the parties through the mediation effectively and efficiently, enabling parties to settle cases whenever they want, wherever they want, and on their own terms.

What makes your company unique or innovative? Bot Mediation is the first platform to introduce an AI-powered mediator avatar to the legal industry, pioneering a new approach to the dispute resolution process. As Bot resolves more disputes, it collects proprietary data on case-specific negotiation patterns that it uses to enhance the platform’s precision. While it mirrors traditional mediation, Bot Mediation, delivers numerous advantages including:

  • AI-Driven Analysis: Guides parties towards a fair settlement based on actual case data.
  • Always-Available Virtual Environment: A secure, synchronous platform allows parties to mediate on their own schedule, minimizing delays.
  • Real-Time Progress Tracking: Advanced tools help monitor settlement progress, maintaining momentum throughout the process.
  • Data-Driven Approach: Consistent case evaluations leveraging real settlement data reduce the risk of failed negotiations and reduces human bias.
  • Significant Cost Reduction: Significantly reduces legal fees and mediator costs typical of traditional mediations.
  • Accessibility: A feature in development will allow users to select mediators based on ethnicity and language preferences, promoting inclusivity and accessibility.

By blending cutting-edge AI technology with a user-friendly platform, Bot Mediation accelerates settlements, enhances fairness, and makes mediation more accessible and cost-effective than ever before.

What problem does your product solve? Bot Mediation eliminates key inefficiencies in the traditional mediation process, including scheduling delays, high costs, and subjective biases. Our AI-powered virtual mediation platform accelerates the resolution process, making it faster, more accessible, and cost-effective. By ensuring consistent and data-driven settlements, Bot Mediation reduces the influence of bias and promotes fairness for all parties.

Who are your competitors? Key competitors in the legal dispute resolution space include:

  • Traditional live private mediation services (e.g., JAMS, AAA).
  • Non-synchronous and/or human assisted online dispute resolution (ODR) platforms.
  • Lawyer-to-lawyer negotiations (non-usage of a third-party facilitator)

We are currently in discussions with two of the largest national insurance carriers about pilot programs, and they are providing feedback and guidance on product development and scaling.

Our CEO as well as four out of our five team members come from diverse ethnic backgrounds, bringing a broad range of perspectives, experiences, and insights to our work.

Describe any ways in which your company contributes to a more diverse and inclusive legal tech community? Bot Mediation is committed to fostering a more diverse and inclusive legal tech community through both its team composition and broader initiatives. As mentioned, four out of our five team members come from diverse ethnic backgrounds, enriching our company culture, perspectives, and insights.

Our Bot Mediators are AI-generated avatars which can reflect diverse identities. We are actively developing features that will allow users to select mediator avatars based on ethnicity and language preferences, promoting inclusivity and accessibility.

Anything else you’d like us to know? The Bot Mediation team is thrilled for the opportunity to make its national debut at the ABA TECHSHOW Startup Alley. Co-Founder Darren Fancher fondly recalls his first TECHSHOW as an engaging and impactful experience, where he and his team introduced CASEpeer to an audience beyond California for the first time. Many of the connections Darren made at that show have grown into lasting friendships, and he and the team look forward to the adventures ahead. If persuaded, Darren might share the story of how Pat Palace wrangled a limo for 10 on a cold, snowy Chicago night to get everyone safely back to the hotel.

Case Crafter

Company. Case Crafter AS

Elevator Pitch. In today’s fast-paced world, capturing a jury’s attention is tough. Case Crafter turns case narratives into bite-sized visuals. Our interactive timeline links events with exhibits, helping juries see the big picture and explore details. With a built-in PDF editor, full-text search, offline access, and seamless collaboration across devices, Case Crafter simplifies trial prep and captivates juries. Discover more at casecrafter.com.

What makes your company unique or innovative? Legal presentation has been an overlooked part of legal software, with most existing products being outdated or lacking functionality. Our goal is to address every facet of trial preparation and presentation within a single, easy-to-use application. We have prioritized ease of use by adhering to industry standards for usability.

The interactive timeline is the heart of Case Crafter. What sets us apart is our unique approach to attaching the case documents to the timeline and presenting them in the events.

We dedicated over a year to creating a strong multi-platform application foundation for our product. No competitor matches our platform reach, as we support Windows, Mac, and iPad.

While there is a trend toward web applications, we are focused on developing a native application. We do this because we believe lawyers want to minimize risk when presenting at trial, and having all their documents locally on their devices gives them peace of mind. Additionally, Case Crafter showcases documents without any delay, ensuring a smooth and seamless presentation.

Our applications also offer cloud synchronization alongside on-device document storage. This synchronization allows for real-time collaboration with colleagues and experts. Currently, we are using Apple iCloud for syncing, but we plan to transition to AWS in early 2025. This move will offer a more robust collaboration platform and the flexibility for future integration with AI features.

What problem does your product solve? The main problem we try to solve is ensuring that each jury member understands the lawyers’ perspective on the case. To address this, we present the entire case as an interactive timeline, making it easy to get a full overview of the case. Each event on the timeline includes relevant files and documents, enabling lawyers to dive into the details anytime.

Currently, Timeline Presenter has approximately 200 active users, primarily in the United States, and has received very positive feedback from these users. It was favorably mentioned in the book Medical Malpractice and Wrongful Death in New York by David M. Oddo, Esq.

To facilitate the growth of our company, we decided to rewrite the software and make it available on Windows, macOS, and iOS, while also rebranding the company and the product as Case Crafter.

Case Crafter is currently in soft launch mode, and a full launch is planned for the first quarter of 2025.

Describe your plan for growing the company over the next five years. Case Crafter aims to become the leading global software for trial presentations and case timelines, starting with a strong focus on the U.S. legal market and expanding internationally. Over the next five years, the company will utilize niche marketing, strategic partnerships, and product innovation to achieve this vision.

In 2025, the primary goal will be to build brand awareness among U.S. litigation professionals, with a particular emphasis on small law firms and solo practitioners. Strategies to achieve this include search engine optimization (SEO), paid advertising, attending events like the ABA TECHSHOW, hosting webinars, and launching AI-powered tools for document summarization and timeline creation. Additionally, cloud synchronization and language translation will enhance collaboration and accessibility.

By 2026, the focus will shift to deepening the presence in the U.S. market while exploring international opportunities. This will involve forming partnerships with bar associations and legal educators, integrating the product into law school curricula, and engaging industry influencers. Enhanced customer support and tutorials tailored to specific practice areas will further solidify the user base.

In 2027, Case Crafter plans to expand into other English-speaking markets, including the UK, Canada, and Australia, while continuing to refine its presence in the U.S. Localized marketing efforts, alliances with international legal organizations, and industry-specific modules will be developed to cater to global markets.

By 2028, Case Crafter aims to dominate niche markets by sponsoring international legal tech conferences and building a global user community for feedback and advocacy.

In 2029, the focus will shift to sustaining growth by launching localized interfaces, expanding into the Asia-Pacific (APAC) regions, and publishing thought leadership content on trial technology.

Key goals include reaching 50,000 active global users by 2029, with 40% of those users from outside the U.S., targeting a 12% market share in the US and 1.25% globally. The plan emphasizes growth in markets with high English fluency, along with expansion to Spanish, Portuguese, German, and French-speaking regions, addressing a total addressable market of over five million legal professionals worldwide.

Have you received outside funding? Less than $1M in outside funding.

Our company is diverse with a remote workforce across six countries: the US, Brazil, the UK, Norway, Ukraine, and India. Clarra

Company. Clarra.

Elevator Pitch. Clarra provides seamlessly adaptable cloud-based case management software optimized for litigation. Built on a modern tech stack, Clarra gives law firms the next-generation capabilities they need to accelerate growth and reduce costs. With no-code customization, enterprise-class security, and integration with over 6,000 apps, Clarra simplifies practice management, improving efficiency and visibility.

What makes your company unique or innovative? Designed with the future in mind, Clarra’s modern case management platform allows law firms to respond to the needs of today’s market by leveraging AI-enabled efficiencies, hybrid billing, customization, flexibility and scalable integrations. Clarra represents a much-needed leap forward in the mature—and some might say saturated—case management market, where 60% of the vendors are running on technology platforms that are more than fifteen years old, and 80% are more than ten years old.

In a time of rapid change and intensifying competition within the legal industry, Clarra delivers exactly what firms need to modernize, grow, scale and drive profitability.

Clarra differentiates itself in three ways.

  • Clarra is simple and intuitive to use. Designed for high-volume, docket-driven litigation, Clarra is easy to customize and understand. The adaptable platform seamlessly handles workflow for small plaintiffs’ firms, large class action firms, defense practices of corporate law firms, and in-house legal departments.
  • Built on a modern technology stack hosted in Microsoft Azure, Clarra is scalable and adaptable. We are easy to integrate with other cloud platforms, highly customizable, and come standard with AI efficiency, powerful business analytics, and secure collaboration.
  • One of Clarra’s standout innovations is its no-code customization. Unlike rigid legacy systems, Clarra empowers firms to tailor the platform to their unique requirements without relying on developers. Attorneys and staff can effortlessly adjust data options, system settings, and terminology across practice groups, ensuring the platform aligns seamlessly with existing workflows and remains adaptable as needs evolve. This results in implementations that, on average, take less than two months for clients with thousands of matters.

What problem does your product solve? Clarra fills a critical need for an easy-to-use and affordable case management platform designed for litigation workflows. Law firms and legal departments are looking for a simple, modern solution that requires no coding to customize, seamlessly integrates with complementary legal and business tools, and is designed for faster, easier implementation and onboarding.

Clarra helps our clients to address the serious challenges of managing old legal tech infrastructure while providing the visibility to grow profitably in a rapidly changing market.

Three of the main problems Clarra solves are:

  • Mounting Technical Debt. While firms are trying to adopt new technologies such as AI, they are burdened by having to manage technologies that are decades old. These technologies still use old bus architectures, proprietary APIs, and hard-coded features and are often expensive to manage on-premises. Customers struggle with systems crashing, challenges integrating, and slow and expensive customization.
  • Lack of Visibility. In spite of having reams of data, firms lack the business intelligence and analytics to make good decisions regarding budgeting, prioritizing cases, and pursuing new practice areas or business initiatives that require integrating and analyzing disparate data repositories.
  • Not Optimized for Litigation. Firms also struggle with relying on case management systems that were built for more transactional law firms rather than litigation firms. These other systems are built more for tracking activities and billing by the hour rather than managing complex calendaring, docketing, plaintiffs’ details, large complex matters, collaboration with co-counsel, hybrid billing, tracking communications, etc.

Clarra addresses all of these business challenges and helps firms to accelerate growth and confidently move into the future.

Who are your competitors? Clarra’s competition spans a wide spectrum, from firms relying solely on Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Outlook to manage their caseloads to those using legacy software installed on-premises.

We find ourselves competing with a host of case management vendors, including:

  • Old tech: Abacus, ActionStep, CASEpeer, Elite Mattersphere, MyCase, SmartAdvocate, TrialWorks.
  • Difficult to implement: Litify, Filevine.
  • Unintegrated roll-ups: ProfitSolv, Paradigm, Assembly, Neos.
  • Not designed for high-volume, complex litigation: Clio

Demo Video. See video here.

When was the company founded and where is it located? 6/1/2021. Palo Alto, CA.

Who is your target customer (small firm, large firm, law department, etc.)?  Clarra was originally built for small and midsize plaintiff law firms and pivoted to make the platform flexible enough for larger law firms, defense practices, corporate legal departments, and legal support services.

What is the price of your product or service? Clarra is free to get started to manage up to 5 matters, and our monthly subscriptions range from $47 to $85 per user, per month.

Tell us more about your traction. As we began marketing Clarra and meeting with prospective clients, it became apparent that Clarra’s features fill a need that is shared by many larger defense firms and legal departments. These groups need a solution that is dedicated to managing litigation throughout the process, through to resolution. Due to being built with modern cloud architecture, it is possible, we daresay easier, to integrate Clarra with the existing legal and business technology that these firms and departments have installed.

One example is a multinational law firm that is using Clarra to manage its discrete service that is dedicated to managing MDLs for not only their clients but also for co-counsel throughout their caseload.

In another unexpected twist, legal support services vendors and public adjusters have become clients. These companies, like Clarra, follow the legal and litigation process. Because it is so customizable, we’ve tailored the application to fit their exact needs.

Describe your plan for growing the company over the next five years. Our goal is to build the best-case management platform in the industry, one that is modern, full-featured, simple to use, and easy to implement.

Our growth plans include expanding our features, expanding our sales and marketing focus, entering new international markets, and moving into adjacent sectors that require a bulletproof system for managing cases.

Domestically we will continue to grow our core base of law firms and legal defense firms that need litigation case management. We see expansion into Canada, the EU, and APAC regions.

We will boost the number of company partners we will integrate into our operations in the areas of document management, payment processing, records retrieval.

We have been finding success within industries that are legal process adjacent, such as legal support services and public insurance adjusters.

At the same time, we have been speaking to and learning from professionals in the entertainment industry. These talent agencies, production companies, and networks all have an unmanageable amount of data and documentation that is critical to the success of their clients and their clients’ projects.

In the longer term, we believe that Clarra can help any SMB or services business to replace the limiting use of spreadsheets to manage their operations. This expands our addressable market significantly to the millions of companies and departments that currently manage their businesses using spreadsheets, Google Drive, and email.

Have you received outside funding? No outside funding

Anything else you’d like us to know? Part of our mission is to help firms do more good. As part of that, we provide pro-bono and discounted services to non-profits, universities, and public defenders. We also regularly volunteer in our communities.

Claudio

Company. Loom Analytics.

Elevator Pitch. Loom Analytics’ products turn speech into information to power litigation workflows, including eDiscovery, Deposition and Trials.

What makes your company unique or innovative? We focus on providing the most accurate results using custom AI models for speech extraction and analysis for each step in the workflow, instead of using general intelligence models, to minimize hallucinations. Given the anticipated increase in A/V evidence in criminal and civil proceedings, and no solution that provides the ability to analyze this evidence at scale, makes Loom Analytics’ products unique.

What problem does your product solve? Loom Analytics has a suite of products centered around its speech engine that provide civil and criminal lawyers the ability to convert audio and video files into verbatim text, summaries, custom analysis and redactions for different workflows in legal operations.

Who are your competitors? Loom Analytics’ competitors are manual administrative service providers that currently work in these different workflows.

Demo Video. See video here.

What is the price of your product or service? Monthly subscription for different services plus usage based charge (starting at $0.18/audio minute).

Tell us more about your traction. We have clients in the US, Canada, UK and Australia. Over the past twi years, we have grown our revenue 4X and our customers include some of the largest legal service providers in the world.

Describe your plan for growing the company over the next five years. Over the next five years, we will be growing through outbound sales to ALSPs, in-house counsels and eDiscovery departments. In addition, we will be integrating with software providers that currently already service these markets and need support with A/V data processing.

Have you received outside funding? Grants and personal investments of $1.5M.

Describe any ways in which your company’s leadership and/or workforce are diverse. The company’s founder is a woman of color, the Chief of Staff is a woman, and the Head of Technology is a man of color. The racial and gender breakdown of our entire team resembles that of our leadership team.

CounselVault

Company. Occam’s Ops.

Elevator Pitch. Imagine a world where your data is not just secure but impregnable, where efficiency meets compliance in the face of ever-growing cyber threats. Enter CounselVault: an on-premises, AI-driven legal assistant, designed specifically for you.

CounselVault secures your data so it’s not just behind a firewall; it’s physically isolated from the internet. It’s your data, your AI, on your terms. Make your firm the fortress of legal excellence it deserves to be with CounselVault!

What makes your company unique or innovative?

  • On-Premises Security with AI Power. CounselVault brings cutting-edge AI technology directly to your office. By operating entirely on-premises, it provides the power of a state-of-the-art Large Language Model (LLM) combined with the unmatched security of local and private data storage and processing.
  • Designed Specifically for Small Law Firms and Solo Practitioners.
  • Unlike generic legal tech solutions or expensive enterprise-level tools, CounselVault is purpose-built for small law firms and solo practitioners. It offers high-level functionality without unnecessary complexity or cost. This focus on accessibility and ease-of-use ensures that firms with limited resources can still harness the power of advanced AI.
  • Hardware and Software Integration for Seamless Operation. CounselVault combines robust hardware with intuitive software to deliver an integrated solution. The system is easy to deploy, works with existing document management workflows, and does not require extensive IT infrastructure. This blend of simplicity and sophistication makes CounselVault ideal for firms seeking immediate value without technical hurdles.
  • Work Product as a Living Library. CounselVault transforms a law firm’s historical work product into an active resource. Instead of letting years of legal expertise sit unused in archives, the system makes it instantly accessible and actionable. By turning your firm’s experience into a living library, CounselVault ensures every attorney has the tools to create high-quality work efficiently.

What problem does your product solve?

1 – Compliance and Control

  • The Office of Inspector General (OIG) published a November 2024 report on the HIPAA audit program by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and revealed a stark reality. Cyberattacks are rising, with a 239% increase in large breaches over the past four years alone. As a microcosm of data vulnerability, the healthcare sector shows us what lies ahead if we don’t act.
  • HHS’ audits were narrow, focusing on just 8 out of 180 HIPAA rules and neglecting other physical and technical safeguards. Entities are vulnerable, not just to breaches but to the legal liabilities that follow.
  • CounselVault solves this problem with an on-premises, air gapped system that physically isolates your data from the internet. Unlike cloud-based solutions, CounselVault eliminates the risks of data breaches and ensures compliance with strict confidentiality requirements.
  • With the OIG highlighting HHS’ failure to enforce timely corrections or deficiencies, don’t get caught in the same net. CounselVault gives you control over your data, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and beyond. We designed CounselVault to evolve with legal standards, without the hassle of constant manual updates.

2 – Unmatched Reliability.

  • Since its launch in November 2022, OpenAI’s ChatGPT unexpectedly went offline with significant downtimes at least four times. While other solutions might just be a thin wrapper over ChatGPT, CounselVault operates independently of the internet. It will never leave you at the mercy of OpenAI’s ChatGPT servers. CounselVault is your AI that secures your data on your terms.

3 – Inefficient Workflows.

  • Creating legal work product is often time-intensive and repetitive. Attorneys must frequently draft documents from scratch or manually sift through archives of past work to find relevant templates, wasting valuable time that could be spent on strategic tasks or billable client work. This inefficiency can hinder productivity and increase operational costs.
  • The integration of Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) for workflow optimization allows CounselVault to go beyond simple document search. It retrieves the most relevant documents from your existing work product, analyzes them, and tailors them into template drafts. This not only saves time but ensures accuracy and continuity, allowing attorneys to leverage their previous successes while tailoring work for current matters.

4 – Limited Resources for Legal Technology.

  • Advanced legal tech solutions are often designed for large firms with significant budgets and IT departments. Small law firms and solo practitioners frequently find themselves priced out of such innovations or burdened by systems that are too complex or cumbersome for their needs.
  • CounselVault is designed specifically for small law firms and solo practitioners, offering cutting-edge AI capabilities without the complexity or on-going costs of enterprise-level solutions.

5 – Inconsistent Quality in Legal Drafting.

  • When attorneys are under pressure to deliver quickly, quality can suffer. Without a reliable system for retrieving and reusing high-quality past work, firms face the risk of errors, omissions, or inconsistency in their legal documents. This can negatively impact client satisfaction and case outcomes.
  • By using past successful work as a foundation, CounselVault enhances the accuracy, consistency, and professionalism of legal documents. Attorneys can deliver high-quality results faster, leading to better client outcomes.

6 – Future-Proofing Your Firm.

  • The legal landscape is changing and AI is becoming a standard, not an exception. CounselVault provides quick access to accurate work already tailored to your needs while reducing errors. As regulators and developers try to out-accelerate each other, CounselVault will enable you keep pace while remaining compliant.

The OIG report is a wake-up call, not just for healthcare but for every sector dealing with sensitive data. Don’t wait and become the next headline in a data breach story. Adopt this technology now and get CounselVault to secure your present while investing in your firm’s resilience and competitive edge.

Who are your competitors? CounselVault operates in a competitive landscape of legal document management and automation solutions. Notable competitors include:

  • A cloud-based document and email management system tailored for law firms, offering features like full-text search, version management, and integrated OCR.
  • Provides comprehensive cloud-based legal practice management software with document management capabilities, including secure sharing, version history, and integration with tools like DocuSign.
  • iManage Work. Document and email management solution designed for legal professionals that focuses on security and collaboration. iManage Work still supports but reportedly stopped selling its on-premises solution, presumably, because it requires significant server infrastructure to run adequately.
  • A cloud-based document and email management platform offering AI-enabled legal document automation and secure collaboration tools.
  • A cloud-based solution that specializes in document automation for legal professionals, enabling the creation of automated workflows and client intake processes.
  • Primarily a cloud-based contract lifecycle management software with AI capabilities for contract creation, document storage, and contract management.
  • Primarily a cloud-based AI-powered platform offering contract analysis and management, providing insights into contract terms and clauses.
  • A cloud-based, no-code platform that enables legal teams to automate workflows and document creation using AI to focus on simplifying complex processes.
  • A cloud-based legal case management software built on Amazon Web Services (AWS) that centralizes information with tools for document editing, case management, and task automation.
  • Combines practice management and accounting solutions for law firms, integrating various operational aspects. Designed to run either on-premises or in the cloud.

Each of these competitors provides distinct features but most of them focus on cloud-based deployment models.

  • Explore compatibility with private cloud or hybrid solutions to expand deployment options.

3 – Evaluate Exit or Expansion Opportunities.

  • Explore strategic acquisitions to grow further or enhance capabilities.
  • Prepare for a potential acquisition by a larger legal tech company or a private equity exit.
  • Alternatively, consider scaling operations through additional funding rounds to target larger firms.

4 – Revenue Goals.

  • Capture a significant share of the small law firm market.
  • Achieve ARR of $10–20 million with sustained profitability.

5 – Key Success Factors.

  • Customer-Centric Approach: Continuously adapt the product based on customer needs and feedback.

Thank you for the opportunity to share our vision. We would gladly address any other questions or dive deeper into any aspect of our business.

Descrybe.ai

Company. descrybe, LLC

Elevator Pitch. Descrybe.ai is on a mission to democratize access to the law. Founded in 2023 in Boston, our platform transforms complex legal information into simplified, natural-language, searchable summaries available in both standard and simplified English and Spanish. By offering comprehensive case law research and reducing legal costs, Descrybe.ai empowers users with the tools and knowledge to navigate the traditionally complex and costly world of legal research.

What makes your company unique or innovative? The most innovative thing about descrybe.ai is that we are committed to creating state-of-the-art legal research tools that are truly affordable and accessible. We are also focused on opening access to case law research specifically. In other words, we don’t want to try to do everything. We want to do one thing and to do it very well. And that one thing is case law research for everyone.

What problem does your product solve? We are providing an alternative to the established (and expensive) legal research tools on the market. We are not trying to replace the big guys, rather we are trying to create a meaningful alternative for those priced out of the usual tools. We also see our platform as a supplemental tool for anyone doing legal research, not just for those who can’t afford other options.

Who are your competitors? Depending on how you look at it, we either have many competitors or none at all. That is because nobody is doing things exactly the way we are. But we do look to the following companies as part of the same general area we are in: Spellbook, Paxton AI, vLex, LexisNexis, Westlaw, Harvey. Really anyone in the case law research space, which is a lot of people.

Demo Video. See video here.

When was the company founded and where is it located? 6/30/2023. Newton, MA.

Who is your target customer (small firm, large firm, law department, etc.)? This has evolved a bit since our launch. At first, we thought we might be more for pro-se litigants, but over the past year we are seeing that we are mainly used by legal professionals. We do think we are useful to anyone who needs to do case law research and our new Legal Research Toolkit will be aimed specifically at legal professionals. We are targeting anyone who is either priced out of the current legal research market or is looking for supplemental AI-powered tools. We expect to refine our target market over 2025 once we have our first paid tool in the market.

What is the price of your product or service? The current search tool is free and will remain so. The Legal Research Toolkit will be around $20 a month for commercial use and $10 for personal. We may offer some free access. We are working through the pricing now and will have this set by April. We expect to launch this in early 2025.

Tell us more about your traction. While we don’t currently track users, we do measure our traction in a few ways, namely database size, search volume, advisors, awards, media coverage, and user feedback. Here is a sampling of these metrics from the past 18 months since we launched.

Database size. To date, we’ve made over 3.6 million judicial opinions from across the United States searchable and summarized, including decisions from state supreme courts, appellate courts, federal district courts, federal appellate courts, and the U.S. Supreme Court (see our Opinion Tracker for more details).

Searches. To date, we estimate that there have been hundred of thousands of searches on the descrybe.ai platform and well over 10K users.

Too many to list – see them all here,

Describe your plan for growing the company over the next five years. Our plans are based on monetization and building affordable and accessible tools on top of our vast database. By the time the TECHSHOW rolls around, we will have several products in market as a part of our Legal Research Tool Kit. If the timing works out well, we could try to align a product release for the same time as the Startup Alley demos. We are working on something really big that I can’t even hint at, but there is a chance it will be ready by April, and we could debut it in Chicago.

Have you received outside funding? No outside funding

Describe any ways in which your company’s leadership and/or workforce are diverse. One of our founders is a woman (and is an ABA Women of Legal Tech 2024 Honoree). Both of our founders are over the age of 50, which is unusual in tech. Finally, two out of four advisors are women.

Describe any ways in which your company contributes to a more diverse and inclusive legal tech community? Our co-founder Kara Peterson has become a prominent figure in both the women in legal tech and women in AI ecosystems. She is a frequent guest on podcasts and in person events that focus on AI overall and especially on women in AI. She is also an emerging expert in discussions around ethical AI and the dangers of bias in AI. But beyond that, our solution is targeted at access to law issues, which we know disproportionately affect marginalized communities. We hope that our platform can help with access to justice issues by addressing access to law issues. We are concerned that if legal AI is only used to make the already well-served better served, we have missed a huge A2J opportunity.

Anything else you’d like us to know? Our co-founder Kara Peterson is presenting twice at the TECHSHOW this year. Her two sessions are AI and Access to Justice and Women in Legal Tech: Past Progress, Present Challenges, and Future Opportunities. In addition, and as mentioned before, she is one of only seven ABA Women of Legal Tech for 2024, it would be great to have her as a part of the startup alley this year! And while we did make it to the semifinals last year, the platform has been completely rewritten and is really all new so worth giving us another shot!

Dyspute.ai

Company. Dyspute.ai.

Elevator Pitch.

Dyspute is revolutionizing dispute resolution with Adri, the world’s first AI mediator, launching in February 2025. Dyspute streamlines conflict resolution by helping companies settle disputes efficiently, affordably, and fairly. Our platform starts with an AI-powered demand letter generator and evolves into AI-led mediation, using interest-based and gamified negotiation to craft resolutions. Dyspute empowers businesses to reduce costs, save time, and maintain valuable relationships.

What makes your company unique or innovative? Dyspute is the first platform to integrate AI into every stage of dispute resolution, from generating and responding to demand letters to interest-based AI mediation with Adri, our empathetic, goal-oriented chatbot. We’re transforming how disputes are resolved by legal professionals, businesses, and ADR providers. By embedding AI into these processes, we reduce costs, save time, and preserve relationships, setting a new standard for affordable and scalable dispute resolution.

What problem does your product solve? Resolving disputes can be expensive, time-consuming, and emotionally draining. Dyspute solves this by offering an affordable, streamlined alternative. Our AI-led platform can generate demand letters and demand letter responses, plus facilitate mediation, helping lawyers resolve conflicts faster, while in-house teams can use it to mitigate disputes early and effectively. ADR providers can offer our product as a more affordable solution for those who cannot afford traditional mediation.

Who are your competitors? There are none, we are the world’s first AI-led dispute resolution platform. While there are some companies offering AI demand letter generation there are no companies offering AI mediation. We see ourselves as complementary to ODR and ADR providers, providing first-line, risk-free dispute resolution at an affordable price point.

Demo Video. See video here.

When was the company founded and where is it located? 3/17/2024. We are fully remote, but HQ is in Dover, N.H.

Who is your target customer (small firm, large firm, law department, etc.)?

  • Lawyers and Law Firms: Tools for drafting demand letters and mediating client disputes affordably and efficiently. A resource to streamline workflows and provide clients with innovative, tech-driven solutions.
  • In-House Legal Teams: Incorporate AI Mediation into Terms of Service as a mandatory first step before arbitration, reducing legal costs and preserving relationships. A scalable solution for managing high volumes of disputes across other contracts or agreements.
  • ADR Providers (e.g., JAMS, AAA, mediation programs): Offer Dyspute as a low-cost alternative to traditional mediation. Attract new clients by providing an accessible, affordable, tech-enabled option for dispute resolution.
  • Other Legal Professionals: Courts, legal aid organizations, and community mediation programs can use Dyspute to increase access to affordable dispute resolution for underserved populations.

Full disclosure: We will also be offering a B2C AI mediation solution on our website, but our GTM efforts for AI mediation will be focused on B2B. Our demand letter generator was launched in June 2024 and is being used by both individual consumers and lawyers/law firms.

What is the price of your product or service? Two of our executives come from gaming so we are adopting a freemium model. The AI mediation is free if the dispute is not resolved and $100 if it is resolved. This price includes a simple settlement agreement for the parties to sign. Demand letter packages currently run from $20-30. We are currently in the process of setting our SaaS subscription pricing.”

Tell us more about your traction. Dyspute launched its first feature, an AI-powered demand letter generator, in mid-2024. Early traction includes 14 paying customers, primarily in property- and workplace-related disputes, providing valuable feedback and data to refine our offering. We have had 14,000+ website visitors and 1,100+ active users since launch. Dyspute also won the grand prize at BubbleCon’s recent demo day, receiving $5,000 to launch Adri, our AI mediator, in Q1 2025. We’ve secured meetings with 4 VCs and one global ADR provider (at their request), and quickly formed a strong executive and advisory team.

Describe your plan for growing the company over the next five years.

Year 1 (2025): Launch Adri in Q1 2025. Focus on B2B partnerships with law firms, ADR providers, HR departments, and in-house legal teams. Secure pilot programs with online businesses to integrate Adri into their terms of service.

Years 2–3 (2026–2027): Scale through partnerships with large online businesses and ADR organizations, offering white-label solutions. Expand integrations into customer service platforms (ZenDesk, etc.) and court systems. Invest in product development, adding multi-language support and advanced AI features.

Years 4–5 (2028–2029): Expand Dyspute into a full-service marketplace for (human) mediators and lawyers, sitting atop our AI mediation platform to offer human-level review for every step of the dispute resolution process. Enable legal professionals and mediators to offer their services directly through Dyspute, with Adri facilitating preliminary case resolutions and seamlessly transitioning complex disputes to human experts. Grow partnerships with law firms and ADR providers by integrating their professionals into the marketplace, creating a hybrid model of AI and human expertise. Establish Dyspute as the go-to platform for businesses and individuals seeking cost-effective and scalable end-to-end dispute resolution solutions.

Have you received outside funding? We have met with four VCs so far, but we intentionally plan to remain bootstrapped through at least 2025. We also won the $5,000 grand prize award at BubbleCon’s recent Demo Day for its Immerse Pre-accelerator Program.

Describe any ways in which your company contributes to a more diverse and inclusive legal tech community? Dyspute is designed to make dispute resolution more accessible and efficient, reducing financial and procedural barriers. Our team values inclusivity, reflected in Adri, our AI mediator, who is trained to be empathetic and unbiased, taking the emotional strain out of mediation. By partnering with courts, legal aid organizations, and ADR providers, we aim to bring affordable solutions to diverse populations. Additionally, as a woman-founded company, Dyspute is committed to fostering equity in the legal tech space.

Element Standard

Company. Element Standard.

Elevator Pitch.

Element Standard transforms case management and client service for litigators with products that align digital processes to real-world workflows. Our flagship product, CONTROLit™, uses the Litigation Cartography™ framework to simplify complex litigation into clear, actionable steps. CONTROLit™ enhances efficiency, boosts confidence in navigating disputes, and ensures every action aligns with client goals—delivering better outcomes and building lasting trust.

What makes your company unique or innovative?

At Element Standard, we reject the notion that litigators resist innovation. We believe litigators, like professionals in any field, can harness technology to elevate their practice. As litigators ourselves, we are shaping a future where litigation technology sets the benchmark for all legal tech—because we know there’s a better, more reliable, and more predictable way to practice our craft.

CONTROLit™ redefines litigation management by going beyond basic document and file storage. It delivers real value through enhanced clarity and client-focused transparency, empowering law firms to differentiate themselves in a competitive market. By fostering stronger collaboration and trust between clients and attorneys, CONTROLit™ helps firms stand out.

With CONTROLit™, your entire litigation team—and your clients—can confidently answer the three essential questions that guide every case: What’s happened? What’s happening? What needs to happen next?

CONTROLit™ is powered by our proprietary Litigation Cartography™ framework—a comprehensive and intuitive map of the litigation process that empowers attorneys to navigate disputes with greater confidence and precision. Litigation Cartography™ visually outlines the entire litigation journey, aligning seamlessly with how litigators practice law while uncovering actionable options at every stage.

By breaking down complex processes into clear, manageable stages, parts, and elements, CONTROLit™ simplifies litigation, enhancing navigation, control, and collaboration while boosting attorney confidence.

CONTROLit™ acts as the bridge between the day-to-day practice of litigation and the existing data and technology infrastructure within law firms and in-house legal departments.

Rather than disrupting established litigation practices, CONTROLit™ complements and enhances the systems firms have already invested in. Its secure, user-friendly design ensures quick adoption, delivering immediate, tangible benefits.

What problem does your product solve? Litigators aim to focus on three key objectives: uncovering the facts, interpreting the law, and crafting winning arguments for their clients. However, the complexities of litigation management often pull them away from these priorities. A lack of process control leads to missed deadlines, redundant work, disorganized case files resembling  junk drawers of documents, and widespread frustration and burnout for both attorneys and clients.

CONTROLit™ empowers litigators to manage the complexities of their cases by moving beyond the clutter of documents and folders. It enables existing staff to achieve more, enhances communication, ensures strategic alignment, and provides tangible ways for firms to showcase their value to clients.

Additionally, CONTROLit™ positions firms for the future of AI with enhanced data readiness. By transforming unstructured junk drawers of documents into organized, structured data that accurately reflects case details, CONTROLit™ ensures AI systems can effectively access, analyze, and leverage case information.

Who are your competitors? From a functional standpoint, we may be seen as competing with existing case management and document management systems. However, we view these solutions as complementary rather than competitive. Unlike these systems, CONTROLit™ was specifically designed to integrate with and enhance existing law firm technology, not replace it. Our platform provides capabilities that traditional solutions simply don’t offer.

Demo Video. See video here.

When was the company founded and where is it located?  1/1/2022. We are a virtual company with our development team located in Poland and our sales and marketing team along with our executive leadership located in the US, which includes Fort Lauderdale, FL (HQ), Kansas City, MO, and Chicago, IL.

Who is your target customer (small firm, large firm, law department, etc.)? Litigation-focused law firms of any size seeking to improve client relationships and manage cases more effectively, and in-house counsel tasked with managing litigation.

What is the price of your product or service? Variable based on firm size. For instance, for a small litigation boutique, the flat rate for CONTROLit is $2500 per month.

Tell us more about your traction. The company is in the early stages, with one paying customer and ongoing beta trials for CONTROLit™. Element Standard is currently in discussions with multiple law firms, in-house legal departments, and a major insurance company about how unique solutions can be integrated into their litigation management workflows in 2025.

Describe your plan for growing the company over the next five years. Expand customer base through targeted outreach to litigation-focused firms and in-house litigation teams, establish a partnership program for joint go-to-market activities, add to the functionality of CONTROLit™ based on customer feedback, and develop complementary products or services that enhance value for legal professionals.

Have you received outside funding? Less than $1M in outside funding.

Describe any ways in which your company’s leadership and/or workforce are diverse. We are proud of the diversity within our executive leadership, exemplified by our CEO’s recognition as part of the Gaingels100.

Describe any ways in which your company contributes to a more diverse and inclusive legal tech community? At Element Standard, we believe diversity and inclusiveness in litigation stem from equitable access to the knowledge and tools needed to effectively prosecute or defend a case. CONTROLit™ takes a significant step toward democratizing access to critical litigation process knowledge—knowledge that has historically been limited to the most experienced litigators in established law firms.

True inclusion requires action. Our mission is to demystify the litigation process for everyone. By simplifying what has traditionally been a highly complex system, our software levels the playing field, empowering more people to navigate litigation with confidence and success.

Anything else you’d like us to know? At Element Standard, we’re not just offering a tool; we’re redefining how litigation is managed and controlled. CONTROLit™ represents the next generation of legal technology, empowering law firms to navigate complexity with clarity, deliver exceptional client value, and stay ahead in a competitive market.

Lawft

Company. Lawft Holdings.

Elevator Pitch. Our mission is to provide law firms with a single solution that offers the efficiency of automated workflows, the power of advanced document assembly, the connection that comes with consistent communication, and the transparency of defined growth metrics.

What makes your company unique or innovative? Lawft is more than law practice management software. It is a law firm growth platform. Lawft is built to enhance communication (secure messages, texting, email integration, file sharing with tracked external sharing, integrated fax), drive growth (enhanced reporting, lead tracking, Quickbooks integration), improve management (KPIs, NPS, AI-based sentiment detection), boost efficiency (automated workflows, case stage tracking, document assembly, data extraction, automated time tracking), and streamline file management (Universal OCR, full text search).

We have a robust automations engine that can use any meaningful change can trigger an almost endless array of actions and with powerful filters our automations can be crafted with exceptional levels of specificity. We have built a comprehensive document assembly and template management system so that Lawft users can focus on their value add instead of data entry. Our secure messages have a Sidebar feature where members of the law firm can discuss the underlying communication without risking an inadvertent reply in the main message. Lawft can even find times when firm members are available for a meeting – with the click of a button. At Lawft, everything is designed to empower law firms to scale over time without losing track of the fundamentals.

We are also unique in our perspective. Our insights helped us build Lawft for diverse practice areas, with diverse needs, and diverse financial models (flat fee, hourly, and contingency). We developed Lawft to be as innovative as it is seamless in scaling.

Finally, Lawft is unique because it offers a comprehensive, cutting-edge feature set without the requirement for any additional subscriptions.

What problem does your product solve? The greatest challenge Lawft set out to solve was to have one piece of software (not dependent on other paid subscriptions) that was robust enough to provide law firms with everything a law firm needed to scale, even in the face of rapid growth. Lawft helps law firms implement best practices, become incredibly efficient in managing cases, understand client sentiment, and leverage the best modern technology has to offer – all in one place.

Who are your competitors? The major participants in this space include Litify, Clio, MyCase, and Filevine.

Demo Video. See video here.

When was the company founded and where is it located? 10/1/2021. Fort Worth, Texas.

Who is your target customer (small firm, large firm, law department, etc.)?

We are very focused on law firm growth, so our target customers are solo practitioners and small firms. Lawft is in a closed beta stage with one paying customer: Varghese Summersett, a medium-sized firm with various practice areas experiencing exponential growth. Currently, 20 firm users are exclusively practicing in Lawft, with another 30 users who are transitioning in.

What is the price of your product or service? We currently have a per-seat pricing model. Our plans (Status, Nimbus, and Alto) range between $50 – $100 a month. We are also exploring a usage-based pricing model as we come out of closed beta to make the platform even more accessible.

Tell us more about your traction. When we started our closed beta, we had three paid users. We have since grown to twenty users who operate exclusively in Lawft and about thirty more who are transitioning from their existing software to Lawft.

While we are in this stage, we measure traction by customer engagement. We have seen increased feature utilization and a growing excitement among users.

Describe your plan for growing the company over the next five years. We are excited to move out of closed beta and start taking on clients, beginning with the two law firms on our waitlist. We are working on several marketing channels, which will include 1) online marketing 2) networking 3) a companion book about law firm growth that should be released next year that I have authored, 4) my relationships with law schools. Our long-term growth plans include word of mouth. We know how powerful an attorney recommendation can be in this space. As a platform focused on law firm growth, we should see our user base increase as our clients’ firms grow.

Have you received outside funding? No outside funding.

Describe any ways in which your company’s leadership and/or workforce are diverse. I was born in a small village in Kerala, India. It would be more accurate to say I was born in a small house in a small village in Kerala because there wasn’t a hospital in a one-hour radius from where I was born. My family immigrated to the United States about a year later, but I was sent back to Kerala during my middle and high school years in hopes that I would straighten out from being the little rebel I had become.

It’s more than a little ironic that I, the founder of Lawft, am someone who went to high school in a village where no one had a computer and the internet was unheard of. In fact, I didn’t even have a television. When the monsoons got bad, we’d be without power and phones for days. I returned to the United States in 2000, and perhaps the sheer volume of change made me appreciate how much technology could transform our world.

Before law school, I had never met a lawyer. When I started my law firm, most people told me the golden age of private practice had come and gone. My story has always been one of progress despite my circumstances.

Before Lawft, I spent a year on a client advisory board for a major case management software company, trying to advocate for necessary changes and modernization. After months spent researching alternative options — I realized the product I needed didn’t exist. So, against all odds, I embarked on the journey to build it myself.

I am an Indian-born American. I’m a solo founder with no outside funding. The design team that worked for me was based in Ukraine, although most of the team has now moved in light of the political conditions. My full-time development team is a group of nine programmers, all in Kerala, one of whom visits us here in Fort Worth once a quarter.

As Lawft grows, so will the U.S.-based team – particularly in sales and support.

Describe any ways in which your company contributes to a more diverse and inclusive legal tech community? Lawft is built on the premise that efficiency improves access to justice.

Despite the constitutional guarantee for court-appointed counsel for individuals accused of crimes, courts have limited budgets, and the attorneys who take court-appointed cases on very low flat fees or equally low hourly rates have only so many hours in the day. One way to increase access to justice is to enable lawyers to do more in their limited time.

For example, when a lawyer can have a baseline of automated touchpoints that are of great value to the client, such as messages that explain, How long will this case take? What should I expect in court? and Will you share what I tell you with my family? , you are able to greatly improve the client’s journey without an additional investment in time. This means the attorney can spend more time doing the things only they can do.

The same applies to attorneys and law students who work in pro bono clinics. One of our goals in working with law schools is to make Lawft available to pro bono clinics.

Lawft enables improved service. That is not to say that an increase in service necessitates an increase in the cost – merely in value. While providing white glove service might be a basis for increasing prices over time, providing exceptional and efficient service also enables lawyers to do more with less time – a savings lawyers can pass on to clients.

Anything else you’d like us to know? I have had ABA TECHSHOW on my calendar for the better part of a year. We have worked diligently, iterating, debugging, problem-solving, and putting Lawft through its paces to get prepared. It has been a labor of love, but the thought of us entering this competition – and being ready to showcase our very best – has been extremely motivating!

LegalScout

Company. General Counsel Online, Inc.

Elevator Pitch. LegalScout is an AI-driven legal consultation platform that connects prospective clients with attorneys through intelligent legal briefs. By offering a free, user-friendly consultation process, LegalScout enables users to understand their legal needs and find the right attorney, while attorneys receive high-quality, pre-qualified leads, saving them time and money.

What makes your company unique or innovative? LegalScout uses AI to conduct initial consultations, generate detailed legal briefs, and match users with attorneys. Attorneys can review the briefs before purchasing a lead, ensuring they only pay for leads that meet their criteria. This model offers a win-win solution: users receive free consultations and qualified attorney matches, and attorneys gain access to leads with no upfront costs.

What problem does your product solve? The traditional model of legal lead generation is inefficient, expensive, and often results in wasted time for both clients and attorneys. Users struggle to understand their legal issues and find the right attorney, while attorneys are burdened with non-qualified leads that consume time and resources.

Who are your competitors? Up and comers, like CaseGuru and ZAFLegal, as well as traditional players like Avvo and Lawyers.com

 Demo Video. See video here.

When was the company founded and where is it located? 1/1/2024. Pittsburgh and New York.

Augmented by brief link, attorneys receive a private label version of LegalScout, which customizes branding and AI prompting, to deploy for their own intake.

What is the price of your product or service? Free for users and attorneys to use. Purchase of a highly qualified lead will range from $50 to $1000 or more.

Tell us more about your traction. Product has just been launched and advertising/promotion has just begun. Users number in the thousands but we have not yet sold any leads.

Describe your plan for growing the company over the next five years. Prove the model using investment funds to prime the pump and show positive return on invested ad dollar.

Have you received outside funding? No outside funding.

Describe any ways in which your company’s leadership and/or workforce are diverse. Age (an often-overlooked diversity goal) is diverse, from the very young to the older and more accomplished.

Describe any ways in which your company contributes to a more diverse and inclusive legal tech community? Accessible to clients from all backgrounds. Eliminates bias in Client-Attorney Matching. Inclusive Attorney Engagement promotes diversity by providing opportunities to attorneys from varied backgrounds, including those from underrepresented groups who may lack resources to market themselves on traditional platforms. By enabling attorneys to review detailed briefs before committing to a lead, LegalScout ensures that attorneys can prioritize cases based on merit and suitability rather than preconceived notions, fostering fairness and equity in legal representation.

Legau

Company. Legau.

What makes your company unique or innovative? What sets Legau apart from other smart drafting tools in the market is that: (i) we cover the entire legal drafting cycle (research, plan, create and review), rather than just creation and some review; and (ii) support attorneys across all types of legal documents, not just contracts.

What problem does your product solve? We address inefficiencies and productivity losses in the legal drafting process, which lead to financial leakage and limit the profitability of law firms.

Who are your competitors? Litera (only cover creation and review; just for contracts), Henchman (creation; just for contracts), Draftwise (creation; just for contracts)

Enhanced Product Offering: We will continuously enhance our product based on our holistic perspective of the legal drafting process (research, plan, create, review). The next few years will be dedicated to deepening our capabilities on the plan, create and review side of the product, partnering with leading providers of legal content (secondary sources) in the U.S. market, and increasing the number of AI use cases and workflows (agentic and otherwise) purposedly built to solve specific problems of attorneys.

LexPipe

Company. LexPipe, Inc.

Elevator Pitch. LexPipe uses AI to transform litigation budgeting. By analyzing public docket data and law firm’s historical time entries, LexPipe forecasts costs and resources so firms can confidently propose Alternative Fee Arrangements (AFAs). The insights and related workflows help mid-size and larger firms move beyond spreadsheets to offer AFAs, improve profitability, and align staffing with demand, all while increasing transparency and client value.

What makes your company unique or innovative? Our founding team brings a deep understanding of legal data, led by a second-time legal tech founder who previously built a successful docket analytics platform. This experience equips LexPipe to create custom AI models tuned to the nuances of state and federal litigation. While others rely on generic tools, LexPipe’s focused approach turns raw docket and billing data into actionable budgeting and resource-planning insights.

What problem does your product solve? As mid-size and larger firms outgrow manual budgeting methods, they struggle to forecast costs, price cases, match talent to tasks, and optimize resources for complex matters. LexPipe centralizes docket analytics and billing history, delivering clear, data-driven budgets, identifying who is best at what, and predicting when capacity will be available—replacing guesswork with evidence-based planning.

Who are your competitors? Litigation analytics tools such as LexMachina and Docket Alarm analyze public records for case insights; Litera’s Clocktimizer analyzes billing data and time entries. To our knowledge, LexPipe is unique to combine these approaches, integrating docket analytics with historical billing to create unified, forward-looking litigation budgets that guide resource planning and AFA proposals.

Demo Video. This is an old recording! Lots of pretty charts available in newer versions: See video here.

When was the company founded and where is it located? 1/1/2024. New York City.

Who is your target customer (small firm, large firm, law department, etc.)? Mid-size and larger firms (50+ litigators) and corporate legal departments that need more accurate litigation budgeting and resourcing.

What is the price of your product or service? Enterprise based on number of litigation matters.

Tell us more about your traction. We launched our first preview of the platform on November 18 to four law firms and one in-house counsel. Early feedback is very positive, and we’re already seeing heavy usage. These initial deployments confirm market appetite for an integrated docket and billing analytics solution that streamlines litigation budgeting.

Describe your plan for growing the company over the next five years. We will first focus on client value and pricing teams within firms, then expand to reach firm management and practice leaders. Eventually, we’ll provide direct tools for individual attorneys to plan their cases. By steadily broadening our user base, deepening integrations, and refining our AI models, we’ll grow adoption and influence how litigation is budgeted.

Have you received outside funding? No outside funding.

Describe any ways in which your company’s leadership and/or workforce are diverse. Our leadership team blends expertise in law, technology, and operations, reflecting diverse cultural and professional backgrounds. We have members in Europe, India, and New York. The range of experiences fosters more inclusive decision-making and product development.

Describe any ways in which your company contributes to a more diverse and inclusive legal tech community? LexPipe helps firms provide transparent pricing that moves beyond the traditional billable hour. This shift opens doors for smaller practices and innovative service arrangements that were previously hindered by cost uncertainty. When firms can confidently offer alternative fee structures, it increases opportunities for diverse legal professionals to compete, thrive, and deliver value-driven services to a broader range of clients.

Anything else you’d like us to know? LexPipe embodies the vision of its Founder, Michael Sander, who believes that legal technology is a manifestation of justice. As he puts it, If justice is the fair and efficient search for truth, then tech that enhances efficiency and fairness becomes an instrument of justice itself. This ethos drives us to create tools that streamline firm processes and also contribute to a more transparent and ultimately just legal ecosystem.

Lista.io

Company. Ashbury Systems, LLC

Elevator Pitch. Lista provides step-by-step workflows for handling employment-based immigration cases. The workflows provide a clear roadmap for case processing and include sample attorney letters, support letters, legal citations, and links to relevant gov’t websites. The Lista workflows were built by the renowned employment-based immigration attorney Catherine Haight and tested over 20+ years of practice in the field.

What makes your company unique or innovative? This is the knowledge/IP side of employment-based immigration case processing. It includes not only the rote steps but the legal analysis that must be done in order to prepare a case.

What problem does your product solve? The immigration case databases in the market do not have robust, already-built workflows. Most have 5-10 steps in a workflow: e.g., prepare the case, file the case, receive the decision. Lista has 50-150 steps per workflow depending on case difficulty and includes links to the legal authority needed to work the case. Building these workflows takes innumerable hours of law practice over many years.

Who are your competitors? None. Although there are 15 or so immigration case databases in the market, none of them have robust, already-built workflows. Instead, users are expected to build their own – and this can be an insurmountable task.

Demo Video. See video here.

When was the company founded and where is it located? 10/10/2018. Marina del Rey, CA.

Regarding date of founding, the LLC was organized in 2018 but we didn’t launch the business until early 2023.

Who is your target customer (small firm, large firm, law department, etc.)? Employment-based immigration law firms or corporate in-house legal departments of any size.

What is the price of your product or service? $20/mo to be on the platform. Workflows range from $25 – $500 each. Once a workflow is purchased it can be re-used by the subscriber, and any Lista subscriber in their firm, at no additional charge.

Tell us more about your traction. October 2024 was our first month of profitability. Customers are very happy with the platform!

Describe your plan for growing the company over the next five years. Marketing through various bar associations. Possibly licensing the product to case management database companies for incorporation into their systems.

Have you received outside funding? No outside funding.

Describe any ways in which your company’s leadership and/or workforce are diverse. Out of the four LLC members, three are women, and three are Latinx.

Describe any ways in which your company contributes to a more diverse and inclusive legal tech community? Aside from women leadership, the Lista platform gives the how-to so that young, diverse attorneys can immediately prepare cases, without needing an experienced practitioner (typically white male) to mentor them.

Anything else you’d like us to know? Lista is a huge time-saver! For the price of less than one billable hour, users save tens of hours that they otherwise would have spent researching how to prepare a case.

Midpage

Company. Midpage AI Inc.

Elevator Pitch. Midpage is an AI-powered legal research platform that helps litigators find cases, organize notes, and create work product – all in one workspace. Unique features, like an AI-powered filtering, help users skim through dozens of cases with more precision and without losing any nuance.

What makes your company unique or innovative? Almost every time we pitch Midpage to a prospective user, they tell us that Midpage is nothing like the other AI-powered legal tools they have tried.

Rather than an all-purpose chatbot, Midpage takes the familiar legal research workflow (searching for and skimming through case law) and adds a personalized and dynamic layer of AI on top of it. No other provider takes this approach. Users love it.

What problem does your product solve? Midpage solves two problems:

First, it brings efficiency and order to the inherently time-consuming, messy legal research process. Midpage helps users find and understand cases faster and with more precision.

Second, it solves the “verification step” problem introduced by generative AI. Most of the AI-powered legal research solutions are what we call “legal-question-in, legal-answer-out” solutions. No matter how good that answer is, it requires the user to verify it, which diminishes the value add of AI. Midpage on the other hand, does not use AI to provide a legal answer – it uses AI to help you get to YOUR answer faster.

Who are your competitors? Lexis and Westlaw.

Demo Video. See video here.

When was the company founded and where is it located? 11/1/2022. New York, N.Y.

Who is your target customer (small firm, large firm, law department, etc.)? Our target customer is anyone who does hardcore legal research, which means law firms of all sizes. We are currently focused on small-to-midsized firms and plan to expand into big law in 2025.

What is the price of your product or service? $99/month/seat.

Tell us more about your traction. (Company requested response be confidential.)

Describe your plan for growing the company over the next five years.

  • Step 1: Close gaps in case law coverage (~Q12025).
  • Q1: Release citator (~Q12025).
  • Q2-Q3: Integrate drafting (~Q2205).

We firmly believe that having strong data coverage and a competitive citator are necessary steps to growing our business. Those are our top priorities. After that, we will get back to our roots, which means becoming deeply integrating the legal research / drafting workflows for litigators.

Have you received outside funding? $1M – $5M in outside funding.

Describe any ways in which your company’s leadership and/or workforce are diverse. We believe there is a massive amount of untapped talent abroad. Our four employees come from three different countries (Germany, United States, and Turkey).

Describe any ways in which your company contributes to a more diverse and inclusive legal tech community? The legal tech community is a great community to be a small part of. At times, however, it feels a bit walled off to younger startups like us. Our team is comprised of mostly non-lawyers with zero experience in legal tech. We think that the legal tech community of the future will be truly open to anyone and everyone who is interested and curious. It’s our hope that our team shows others that this is possible today and encourages them to join the community.

Anything else you’d like us to know? N/A.

Moxx

Company. Moxx

Elevator Pitch. Moxx is an all-in-one web application designed for litigators to organize documents and exhibits, collaborate on case strategy, and build an effective digital trial notebook. Its intuitive, customizable user experience allows litigation teams to focus on what matters most – strategy.

What makes your company unique or innovative? Moxx stands out because it’s designed and built leveraging decades of first-hand experience working directly with law firms and litigation teams. With over 20 years of collaboration, we deeply understand the fast-paced, high-stakes environment in which lawyers operate.

Our platform is designed with litigators in mind – crafted to streamline workflows and eliminate the learning curve. We know lawyers do not have time for lengthy training sessions or complicated software setups. That’s why Moxx prioritizes user experience, ensuring teams can jump in and start working right away.

What truly sets us apart is how we’ve incorporated real-world feedback from litigators at every step of the design and development process to ensure a streamlined user experience. From managing exhibits, to the overall collaboration process and case strategy, to organizing trial presentations, Moxx was designed based on litigators’ challenges and goals. The result? A solution that works the way litigators need it to – intuitive, powerful, and built to aid in delivering results.

Moxx isn’t just software – it’s a tool created by experts who get what it takes to win.

What problem does your product solve? Moxx solves the challenges litigators face after the e-discovery process. It does so by addressing these challenges by centralizing evidence management, streamlining collaboration, and simplifying preparation for legal proceedings whether arbitration, mediation or trial. With Moxx, litigators can focus on building winning strategies instead of wrestling with logistical hurdles.

Moxx transitions e-discovery into case preparation and trial strategy by:

  • Managing Large Volumes of Data: Post e-discovery, litigators are often left with an overwhelming amount of documents, exhibits, and evidence. Organizing, reviewing, and prioritizing this data for trial can be daunting.
  • Connecting Evidence to Strategy: Transforming raw data into a cohesive case strategy is a complex task. Litigators must determine which pieces of evidence are most impactful and how they fit into the overall narrative of the case.
  • Coordination Across Teams: Multiple stakeholders – paralegals, associates, and expert witnesses – need to collaborate effectively. Keeping everyone aligned while managing deadlines and updates can be a logistical nightmare.
  • Preparing Presentation Materials: Litigators must compile and format exhibits, create demonstratives, and organize trial binders or digital presentations – all while ensuring the materials are accurate and court-ready.

Our growth has been intentionally slow and strategic, but we will be ramping up significantly in 2025. To date, we have conducted usability research with litigators and paralegals in four Am Law 200 firms. We are currently in licensing conversations with two of those firms.

Describe your plan for growing the company over the next five years. Over the next five years, we are projected to move away from the professional services function of Knox Design Strategy to focus solely on growing Moxx.

Have you received outside funding? Self-funding through Knox Design Strategy.

NearBy

Company. NearBy Inc.

Elevator Pitch. NearBy revolutionizes legal support with AI and digital tools. Offering 24/7 assistance, it simplifies law by analyzing contracts, drafting documents, and providing compliance insights. Features include voice-activated AI, e-signatures, geolocation-based expert searches, and online notary services. Successfully tested in Kazakhstan, NearBy is now set to expand globally, starting with the U.S., to make legal services more accessible and efficient.

What makes your company unique or innovative?

What sets NearBy apart in the legal market is our holistic approach to combining advanced AI, digital tools, and user-driven development to revolutionize how legal services are accessed and utilized. Our platform features a proprietary, patented AI legal assistant that operates as a round-the-clock, voice-activated consultant, providing accurate and instant responses to legal inquiries, document generation, and contract analysis. This AI assistant isn’t just a basic chatbot; it’s trained on a comprehensive database of legal knowledge, making it a highly reliable tool for complex legal needs.

Unlike traditional legal services that often require time-consuming and costly in-person consultations, NearBy’s platform is designed for seamless digital workflows, enabling everything from document creation and electronic signing to fully integrated notary services. Our document and contract builder allows users to customize legal documents specific to their needs, saving them time and money while ensuring they stay compliant. With the geolocation feature, users can also search for nearby legal professionals, browse ratings, and book appointments, all within the same platform, providing unmatched convenience and control.

Our innovation is also reflected in our approach to growth. We’re focused on evolving based on real-world testing and user feedback, as shown through our market validation in Kazakhstan. This process is not just about testing functionality; it ensures our platform adapts to meet diverse legal needs, preparing us to launch seamlessly into international markets like the U.S. In essence, NearBy’s unique combination of patented AI technology, user-centric design, and commitment to continuous improvement is redefining how people interact with legal services, making legal support more accessible, efficient, and adaptable than ever before.

What problem does your product solve?

NearBy addresses several key challenges faced by individuals and businesses in the legal landscape:

  • Accessibility to Legal Services: Many people struggle to find reliable legal support, particularly in underserved areas. Traditional legal services can be difficult to access due to geographical constraints or high costs. NearBy solves this by providing a digital platform where users can access a range of legal services anytime, anywhere. Our AI legal assistant is available 24/7, allowing users to get immediate responses to their legal inquiries without the need for an in-person consultation.
  • Complexity of Legal Processes: Navigating the legal system can be daunting, with complicated processes that often lead to confusion and errors. NearBy simplifies these processes by offering an integrated suite of tools, including a document and contract builder. Users can easily create, customize, and manage their legal documents within the platform, significantly reducing the complexity involved in legal documentation.
  • Time Efficiency: Traditional legal procedures often require lengthy timelines, from consultations to document review and signing. NearBy streamlines these workflows, allowing users to create documents, analyze contracts for compliance and risks, and execute agreements electronically, all in a fraction of the time it would take through conventional methods.
  • Cost-Effectiveness: Legal services can be expensive, making them inaccessible for many small businesses and individuals. NearBy offers a more affordable solution by providing essential legal tools and support on a single platform, reducing the need for multiple costly consultations with lawyers. This democratizes access to legal support, ensuring that more people can manage their legal needs without incurring prohibitive costs.
  • Connecting with Local Experts: For those who still prefer human interaction, finding a qualified legal professional nearby can be challenging. NearBy includes a geolocation feature that helps users easily find and book appointments with local lawyers and notaries based on their specific needs. This feature enhances accessibility and allows users to select professionals based on their specialization, rating, and proximity.

In summary, NearBy addresses the fundamental challenges of accessibility, complexity, time inefficiency, cost, and connection to local legal experts, transforming the way people engage with legal services and making it more user-friendly and efficient.

Who are your competitors?

NearBy operates in a competitive landscape that includes various legal technology platforms and traditional legal service providers. Our primary competitors can be categorized into a few key groups:

  • Online Legal Services Platforms: Companies like LegalZoom, Rocket Lawyer, and LawDepot provide online legal document creation and filing services. While they offer user-friendly interfaces for creating legal documents, they often lack the comprehensive AI-driven support and real-time consultation features that NearBy provides. Our platform’s integrated AI legal assistant offers immediate responses and contract analysis, giving us a unique edge in terms of accessibility and efficiency.
  • Legal Marketplaces: Platforms such as UpCounsel and Avvo connect users with legal professionals for consultations and services. Although these marketplaces facilitate finding lawyers, they typically do not offer the same level of integrated tools for document creation, analysis, and electronic signing that NearBy does. Our all-in-one approach makes it easier for users to manage their legal needs without needing to switch between multiple platforms.
  • Traditional Law Firms: Established law firms offer personalized legal services but often come with high fees and limited availability. Many individuals and small businesses find traditional legal services too expensive and time-consuming. NearBy’s platform is designed to provide affordable, on-demand legal support, making legal assistance more accessible and less intimidating for users.
  • AI Legal Assistants: Other companies, such as DoNotPay and Legal Robot, utilize AI to provide legal advice and document analysis. However, these services may not offer the same comprehensive range of tools that NearBy does, including the ability to create custom documents, execute electronic signatures, and connect users with local legal experts through geolocation.
  • Local Notary and Document Services: Many users rely on local notaries and document service providers for their legal needs. While these services are effective for specific tasks, they often lack the digital integration and efficiency that NearBy offers. Our platform combines notary services with document creation and legal consultations, providing a seamless user experience.

In summary, while we face competition from various sources, NearBy distinguishes itself through its comprehensive, AI-driven platform that integrates multiple legal services into one user-friendly solution. Our focus on accessibility, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness positions us uniquely in the legal tech market, allowing us to address the evolving needs of users seeking legal support.

NearBy differentiates itself in the legal tech space through a combination of innovative features, comprehensive service offerings, and a user-centric approach that makes us both useful and attractive to our customers. Here are the key differences that set NearBy apart:

  • Integrated AI Legal Assistant: Unlike many competitors, NearBy features a proprietary, voice-activated AI legal assistant available 24/7. This tool provides real-time, accurate legal advice and answers to inquiries, making legal support accessible at any time. While other platforms may offer chatbots, our AI is specifically trained on a vast database of legal knowledge, enabling it to handle complex queries that typical bots may struggle with.
  • All-in-One Platform: NearBy consolidates a wide range of legal services into a single platform, including document creation, electronic signing, contract analysis, notary services, and geolocation-based expert searches. This integrated approach streamlines the user experience, eliminating the need to navigate multiple platforms for different legal tasks. Users can manage all their legal needs efficiently from one place.
  • User-Centric Design and Functionality: Our platform is designed with the end user in mind, offering a straightforward interface that simplifies the process of obtaining legal support. The document builder allows for customization, while features like price filtering for legal experts ensure users can find affordable help. This focus on user experience makes NearBy more appealing than platforms that may be cumbersome or difficult to navigate.
  • Geolocation Features: NearBy’s ability to connect users with local legal professionals through geolocation not only helps users find the right experts quickly but also fosters a sense of community and trust. This feature enhances accessibility, particularly for users who prefer face-to-face interactions for specific legal matters.
  • Cost-Effective Solutions: Our pricing structure is designed to be more affordable than traditional law firms and many online competitors. By providing a suite of tools and services on a single platform, we reduce the overall costs associated with obtaining legal assistance. This democratizes access to legal services, making it feasible for small businesses and individuals to seek help without financial strain.
  • Continuous Improvement Through User Feedback: NearBy is committed to evolving based on real-world user experiences. Our market validation efforts in Kazakhstan have provided invaluable insights, ensuring our platform adapts to the actual needs of users. This responsiveness sets us apart from competitors who may not actively seek or implement user feedback.
  • Focus on Digital Transformation: As the legal industry increasingly shifts towards digital solutions, NearBy is at the forefront of this transformation. We offer modern, tech-driven services that align with the evolving expectations of today’s users, making our platform not only relevant but essential in the contemporary legal landscape.

In summary, NearBy is more useful and attractive due to our comprehensive, integrated services, user-centric design, advanced AI capabilities, and commitment to affordability and continuous improvement. By addressing the common pain points in accessing legal support and streamlining the entire process, we position ourselves as a leader in the legal tech space, dedicated to enhancing the way individuals and businesses interact with legal services.

Who are your competitors? Oraql Tech currently has no direct competitors in its unique approach. The closest comparison is 4iiz, which focuses on lead generation through marketing analytics. Unlike 4iiz, Oraql Tech goes beyond traditional lead generation by utilizing advanced LLM (Large Language Model) capabilities to analyze comprehensive client data and deliver actionable insights tailored to legal practices. Oraql Tech is not a client management software but rather a platform designed to optimize lead conversion and streamline client interactions through its innovative data-driven approach. This positions Oraql Tech in a niche of its own within the legal tech space.

Quench

Company. Quench, Inc.

Elevator Pitch. Medical record review is excruciating. Legal and medical professionals spend days reviewing 1000s of PDF pages, risking oversight of crucial details while searching for critical evidence. Physician-led Quench transforms records into searchable, sortable chronologies and evidence-based insights. Reviewers uncover patterns, track treatments, and find a needle in the haystack to support opinions with evidence. The Quench platform keeps users organized and focused on expert review and analysis.

What makes your company unique or innovative? Quench radically reduces the effort required of legal professionals and physician-experts to organize and analyze medical records. Created by physicians and clinical AI experts with decades of experience, we have personally experienced the overwhelming burden of reviewing thousands of pages of disorganized, unstructured PDFs to build cases, reach conclusions, and create quality reports. To best educate judges, juries, and involved parties in medical-legal matters such as malpractice or workers’ compensation appeals, physician-experts must meet the standard of  reasonable degree of medical certainty under penalty of perjury, based on review of the entire medical record.

Unlike solutions using ChatGPT or commercial LLMs, Quench was engineered specifically to understand medical records’ unique structure and specialized content. Tables, handwriting, obscure abbreviations – out-of-the-box AI fails here. Quench provides elegant, intuitive tools to efficiently organize any volume of records, with a conversational interface that lets users query the record as if speaking with a bright legal assistant.

By consolidating previously fragmented workflows into a single HIPAA-compliant platform, we free legal professionals from inefficient processes and return physicians to what they love – establishing medical truth thoughtfully and accurately. This enables a better-informed Court and more thorough, defensible cases that directly impact justice for injured parties, victims of medical errors, and those defending such claims.

What problem does your product solve? Quench solves a critical challenge in medical-legal review: the overwhelming task of analyzing thousands of pages of unstructured medical PDFs to find and document critical details that will withstand legal scrutiny. Legal professionals and physician experts currently struggle with fragmented tools and manual processes for creating chronologies, bookmarking sources, searching records, and maintaining context across complex cases. By automating these tedious tasks in a single secure platform, Quench transforms how reviewers establish medical truth.

While other solutions focus on statistical risk assessment or basic summarization, only Quench addresses the specific needs of medical-legal review – where conclusions must meet the standard of reasonable degree of medical certainty, and every detail must be defensible under cross-examination. This returns physicians to their true calling and empowers legal professionals to build more substantial cases, whether supporting legitimate claims or defending against unsubstantiated ones.

Querious

Company. Querious, Inc.

Elevator Pitch. Querious (curious) enhances virtual attorney-client conversations with generative AI. Querious innovates at the heart of legal practice; where trust is earned and business is won. Querious ensures attorneys identify legal issues, uncover key details, and have access to relevant legal content in real-time. It’s simple to adopt—no lengthy implementation or training required. With Querious, attorneys can deliver top-tier advice and unlock revenue opportunities—every single day.

What makes your company unique or innovative? Querious is a novel legal technology tool because it innovates at the heart of legal practice—the attorney-client conversation. The legal technology field is crowded, but no other products on the market currently focus on the attorney-client conversation. Some attorneys have adopted note-takers in virtual meetings (e.g., Zoom AI companion, Firelies.ai, Otter.ai or Fathom). However, these tools are distinguishable from Querious because the notetakers do NOT provide real-time prompts for legal issues, questions, and content. Additionally, notetakers create an audio file and transcription of the entire conversation that persists after the meeting, which is high-risk from a litigation perspective. Querious was designed by attorneys, never creates a full transcript, and discards any segments of transcribed text at the conclusion of the meeting.

What problem does your product solve?

Problem 1: Attorneys are under immense pressure to engage clients, deliver expert advice, and in many cases meet billing requirements. Existing legal tech tools boast efficiency and automation. In a billable hour model, this technology actually works against most attorneys in private practice and decreases revenue. In contrast, Querious helps attorneys identify legal issues in client conversations, especially issues outside of their practice, which can lead to new billable work and cross-selling opportunities that increase revenue to the firm.

Problem 2: Clients expect attorneys to adopt technology, but existing legal tech tools leverage artificial intelligence in a high-risk way. Most use cases in law focus on leveraging AI for precision activities, including research, drafting, and document analysis. Hallucinations by AI in these precision use cases can result in serious consequences to the attorneys and their clients, including losing a case, being sanctioned by a judge or facing disciplinary actions from the state bar. In contrast, Querious leverages AI in the optimal use case, which is in a conversation where even high-level AI-generated prompts about relevant legal issues, questions, and content can be impactful, yet low risk. If a hallucination occurs in the output of Querious, attorneys can simply ignore the prompt or if such prompt is mentioned, the attorney can subsequently revise the comment in another client communication – this happens in the practice of law every day even without the use of AI.

Who are your competitors? None. There are a few misconceptions about our competitors:

  • Note-Takers: There is a misconception that note-takers in virtual meetings are a competitor. However, these tools are distinguishable because the notetakers do NOT provide real-time prompts for legal issues, questions, and content. Additionally, notetakers create an audio file and transcription of the conversation that persists after the meeting, which is problematic from a litigation and discovery perspective. Querious never creates a full transcript and discards any segments of transcribed text at the conclusion of the meeting.
  • Co-Pilots: There is a misconception that co-pilots are a competitor. As far as Querious is aware, these tools require attorneys to prompt the tool to produce certain output. Querious does not require attorneys to be prompt engineers and instead gathers context from the meeting and conversation to automatically produce output to the attorney.

When was the company founded and where is it located?  11/20/2023. Distributed remote workforce with CEOs in North Carolina and Ohio.

Who is your target customer (small firm, large firm, law department, etc.)? The target customer in early 2025 is a mid-sized, growth-minded practice that handles complex, detail-intensive matters. It likely has several partners and associates juggling numerous client calls each day, but operates without a large support team to handle all of the administrative details. The firm is ready to embrace a low-friction technology tool that requires minimal IT overhead, and sees immediate value in a solution that not only improves the quality and consistency of their legal services, but also optimizes their business development activities.

As part of our offering, Querious agrees to keep the name of customers in confidence.

What is the price of your product or service? Two-week free trial. $149.99 per month, per user. Two months free with purchase of an annual subscription. No implementation fee.

Tell us more about your traction. We’re in the process of converting three law firm pilot programs to future commercial contracts in 2025. The existing pilot programs are with: (a) a boutique law firm with 10 attorneys; (b) a full-service law firm with 150-attorneys; and (c) a practice-area specific firm with 600+ attorneys. We are negotiating a fourth pilot program with a litigation-specific firm with 250+ attorneys for January 2025. We have a 2025 sales pipeline based on warm leads to over 350+ law firms and 50+ in-house legal departments.

Describe your plan for growing the company over the next five years. Over the next five years, our legal tech company will drive growth by scaling Querious across small, medium, and large law firms, as well as in-house legal teams. We will earn the business of and retain attorney-users by: (a) personalizing Querious output according to each user based on their practice area, years of experience, and usage habits; and (b) customizing Querious output according to conversation type (e.g., client counseling, business development, or internal/operational). We also plan to foster a thriving community of attorneys using Querious, which will enable networking, collaboration, and cross-selling opportunities within and across law firms. In short, we’re laser-focused on attorney-centric innovation, so that Querious grows into a tool that makes attorneys wonder how on earth did I ever live without this?

Have you received outside funding? $1M – $5M in outside funding.

Describe any ways in which your company’s leadership and/or workforce are diverse. Querious is female-owned and led by Hilary Bowman; an experienced healthcare attorney and graduate of Stanford University. There are three female attorneys on the capital table of the company. Querious is veteran-owned and led by Anthony Dey; an experienced corporate lawyer and graduate of West Point Military Academy. Querious’s engineering team includes software engineers, who grew up in the countries of South Africa, India, and Georgia.

Describe any ways in which your company contributes to a more diverse and inclusive legal tech community? Querious is a 2025 sponsor of NAMWOLF – National Association of Minority and Women-Owned Law Firms and will be supporting the member attorneys at both annual events, as well as other activities throughout the year.

Querious is also currently in discussions with a law professor and board member at Legal Aid of North Carolina to do a research study of how Querious improves the quality of legal services and access to justice in the pro bono space.

Thank you for your time and thoughtful consideration of our application. We would be thrilled and honored to participate in Startup Alley at the ABA Tech Show in April 2025!

Thurgood

Company. Thurgood Intake

Elevator Pitch. Thurgood Intake eliminates 95% of intake calls. Tailored to discrimination-related cases (employment, housing, education, etc.), Thurgood ensures that every potential client gets an immediate, unbiased evaluation of their case — while allowing law firms and legal aid orgs to eliminate hundreds of non-billable hours lost to intake calls, annually.

What makes your company unique or innovative? While other online intake products offer generalized solutions, Thurgood Intake offers unique, differentiated experiences purpose-built for the specific legal areas that we support. Because of this, we’re able to collect more data points and do a deeper analysis of each claim — with over 90% of Thurgood-approved prospects being qualified by an attorney for legal representation.

What problem does your product solve? Time. Whether intake calls are handled by attorneys or staff, either way, plaintiff-side law firms and legal aid orgs often spend 20-25% of their available hours on intake alone. With Thurgood, they get to put that time back into the productivity column.

Who are your competitors? Clio, Filevine, and other legal tech companies who offer a more generalized intake product.

Demo Video. See video here.

When was the company founded and where is it located? 10/24/2023. New York.

Who is your target customer (small firm, large firm, law department, etc.)? Our initial targets are law firms and legal aid orgs in the employment law space.

What is the price of your product or service? $259/month for law firms, free for legal aid orgs.

Tell us more about your traction. We launched April 2024 in partnership with The Prinz Law Firm (Chicago, IL) and have served over 1,000 potential clients since. Along the way, we’ve perfected the algorithm and launched self-help services — to provide access to justice to the 95% of users who are not approved for attorney representation — and are now poised to roll out our offering to more firms and legal aid orgs.

Describe your plan for growing the company over the next five years. While law firms pay for Thurgood Intake, the majority of revenue comes from the sale of self-help services. While only 5% of users are approved for attorney representation, another 30% have a valid legal claim — it just happens to be the type of claims attorneys don’t like to take on. For example, if an employee has a valid harassment claim but hasn’t been terminated, there likely aren’t any damages or opportunity for an attorney to recoup fees. Thurgood’s mission and business model are tied to helping the millions of victims of discrimination-related claims, whether their case is attorney quality or not.

Have you received outside funding? Less than $1M in outside funding.

Describe any ways in which your company’s leadership and/or workforce are diverse. CEO Brandon Burns is both black and LGBT, and committed to building a company — and fostering a society — that celebrates diversity.

Describe any ways in which your company contributes to a more diverse and inclusive legal tech community? We’ve built a product to help victims and attorneys fight discrimination claims!

Anything else you’d like us to know? Thurgood was the grand prize winner at UC Law’s Justice Tech Demo Day. And when Robert Ambrogi posted about Startup Alley on LinkedIn, several of his connections tagged me to apply!

By combining AI-powered timekeeping with matters management, it stands out from traditional time-tracking platforms by providing a seamless operational experience for firms managing complex workflows.

TimeSentry.ai is built specifically for lawyers yet remains agnostic to practice management systems, allowing it to integrate across different platforms. Our AI agents create customized workflows that map to any practice management software, enabling a flexible solution for diverse legal environments. For example, an AI agent can join a call to track its duration, map the time entry to the appropriate matter, generate a list of follow-up items, and update attorneys’ calendars with action items and due dates. By offering a comprehensive, agent-based workflow approach, TimeSentry.ai not only updates the time entry portion of practice management but also optimizes the entire workflow, setting it apart as a truly versatile and innovative solution for legal professionals.

What problem does your product solve? Professionals lose up to $50,000 annually due to unbilled time—a result of the cognitive burden and difficulty of manual time tracking in a dynamic, on-the-go workplace. TimeSentry.ai solves this by substantially reducing unbilled time through real-time revenue enhancement. Our platform suggests time entries based on data from various sources, improving the quality of entries and helping firms realize value from clients. By ensuring entries align with client guidelines, TimeSentry.ai communicates the true value of the work performed, maximizing revenue potential and reducing administrative burdens.

Demo Video. See video here.

When was the company founded and where is it located? 9/18/2023. Brooklyn, New York.

Who is your target customer (small firm, large firm, law department, etc.)? Our target customers are law firms, primarily small firms that bill and track time hourly. These firms benefit significantly from automated time tracking, which reduces administrative friction and enhances productivity by streamlining their billing and time management processes.

What is the price of your product or service? $300/year per user.

Tell us more about your traction. TimeSentry.ai has rapidly gained traction since its launch in 2023, with 20+ Design Partner Agreements with companies across consulting, legal, and digital agency sectors. Currently, our pipeline has over $6K in Monthly Recurring Revenue, and TimeSentry has successfully reduced time-tracking burdens and improved billing efficiency for clients, resulting in faster cash conversion and increased user productivity.

Describe your plan for growing the company over the next five years. Over the next five years, we will focus on three key areas—expanding into new markets, evolving our product, and building stronger partnerships—to make TimeSentry the top choice for intelligent time tracking, insightful analytics, and smoother cash conversion. By using advanced technology that simplifies every step of the billing process, we’ll help professional service firms work smarter, faster, and more profitably. As we refine our platform, link it to the tools firms already rely on, and extend into related fields, TimeSentry will provide proactive insights that improve resource planning, speed up billing, and deliver accurate forecasts. This commitment to innovation will position us as the go-to solution for transforming how businesses manage their most valuable resource—time.

Have you received outside funding? Less than $1M in outside funding.

Describe any ways in which your company’s leadership and/or workforce are diverse. TimeSentry.ai’s leadership is notably diverse, with one of our co-founders being female, representing less than 2% of venture capital-backed female founders. The diversity within our founding team drives our commitment to inclusivity, as we actively seek to expand our workforce with talent from varied backgrounds and experiences to foster innovation and enrich our solutions.

Describe any ways in which your company contributes to a more diverse and inclusive legal tech community? TimeSentry.ai is committed to fostering inclusivity in the legal tech community by addressing disparities that impact underrepresented attorneys, including women, attorneys of color, and those from diverse cultural backgrounds. Research (Minority Corporate Counsel Association, Michigan Journal of Law Reform) highlights that attorneys from these groups tend to underbill relative to their peers, often due to confidence concerns or systemic bias within the legal profession. This underbilling limits their career growth and compensation, perpetuating inequalities across the industry.

Anything else you’d like us to know? TimeSentry.ai aims to level the playing field by equipping these attorneys with tools to confidently and accurately bill for their work. Our AI-driven platform suggests time entries and supports adherence to client guidelines, helping all attorneys — especially those from marginalized backgrounds — maximize their billable hours and realize fair compensation for their contributions. Additionally, we actively partner with organizations that champion diversity in tech and legal sectors, promoting equitable practices that support career advancement for attorneys of all backgrounds.

By addressing these disparities and supporting inclusive initiatives, TimeSentry.ai not only enhances operational efficiency for legal firms but also contributes to a more diverse and equitable legal industry, empowering attorneys to thrive and achieve long-term success.
