Baretz+Brunelle, which describes itself as a growth advisory firm to elite businesses in the legal industry, has acquired LexFusion, a company that provides go-to-market sales representation of a portfolio of companies acr0ss major categories of legal technology.

LexFusion was founded in 2020 by two well-known veterans of the legal industry, Joe Borstein, who had previously been global director of Thomson Reuters Legal Managed Services (the former Pangea3) and Paul Stroka, who at been director of legal solutions at the same company. They were later joined by a third founder, Casey Flaherty, who originally rose to prominence while a corporate counsel at Kia Motors, where the developed the Legal Tech Audit, and later as director of legal project management at Baker McKenzie. 

All three have joined Baretz+Brunelle as partners and LexFusion’s team will also all become part of the firm.

Baretz+Brunelle was founded in 2016 when Spencer Baretz and Cari Brunelle left the firm Hellerman Baretz to start their own consultancy. It now describes itself as focusing “on the things that drive growth in the legal industry — reputation, talent, revenue, leadership, capital, and innovation.”

In a statement, the company said that the deal represents a significant milestone in its growth trajectory, marking its first acquisition under CEO Mike McNamara, the former CEO of Dentons US who joined last year, and solidifying its position as the preeminent growth advisory firm to the legal sector.

  • Legal tech and workflow company Litera.
  • AI productivity suit Macro.
