LexisNexis Legal & Professional and OpenAI today announced plans to work more closely with each other to integrate OpenAI’s large language models and APIs across the LexisNexis product ecosystem.

LexisNexis will incorporate OpenAI’s technology across its various products, including Lexis+ AI and the Protégé personalized AI assistant.

Through this direct collaboration, LexisNexis says, it will be able to integrate the latest OpenAI models into its products more rapidly and jointly develop custom LLMs for sophisticated legal workflows that leverage generative AI technology for enhanced “chain of thought” reasoning.

LexisNexis has been using OpenAI’s models since 2022 as part of its multi-model approach that is designed to select the optimal AI model for specific legal tasks.

This new collaboration enables LexisNexis to deploy the latest OpenAI models based on its ongoing research in order to best address customer use cases, the company said.

“At LexisNexis, we are dedicated to delivering high-quality, highly personalized AI innovation for legal and business professionals to achieve faster, enhanced outcomes,” said Jeff Reihl, EVP and chief technology officer at LexisNexis Legal & Professional, in the announcement. “As leaders in customer-focused legal AI, we prioritize selecting top-performing models and quickly integrating those models into our products.”

As part of the agreement, LexisNexis will also deploy ChatGPT Enterprise to its global teams to help enhance productivity and better address customer needs.
