Paladin, a company whose platform connects lawyers with opportunities to provide free legal help, is today launching Paladin Insights, a new data analytics platform designed to provide real-time reporting capabilities for pro bono legal teams.

The new platform builds upon technology Paladin acquired when it purchased Pro Bono Manager in December 2023, a  product first developed by Pro Bono Net to enable large law firms to manage and measure their pro bono programs.

Paladin Insights aims to address a common challenge faced by pro bono departments at law firms: the reliance on static monthly CSV reports from accounting or finance departments to assess pro bono participation. These reports lack the real-time data necessary for effective case management and staffing decisions, Paladin says.

“Pro bono is an area within law firms that has been significantly underserved by other data and business intelligence tools,” said Kristen Sonday, Paladin’s cofounder and CEO. “This work is high-impact, and pro bono teams should have access to top-tier technology that empowers them to better serve the firm and the community.”

The new platform is designed to provide pro bono teams with the metrics they need to respond efficiently to annual surveys, RFPs, and legal services provider audits, Paladin says. It also enables users to drill down into timekeeper and matter-specific details to assist with staffing, mitigate deadline risks, and view data related to professional development-related opportunities.

The platform offers several key features, including custom dashboards that update nightly to track engagement, hours and matter-specific information. It also provides detailed notes and tags allowing pro bono teams to include anecdotes and contextual information to improve team communication.

In addition, the platform can generate commonly requested reports, such as those needed for the annual AmLaw Pro Bono Scorecard and Pro Bono Institute surveys, and offers drill-down capabilities for analyzing individual timekeepers, matters, and legal service providers.

Ahead of today’s general release, Paladin Insights was beta tested to customers of Pro Bono Manager. In a statement provided by Paladin, Amy Groff, partner and vice chair of the Firmwide Pro Bono Committee at K&L Gates, praised the platform.

“Paladin helps our firm with tracking and reporting on thousands of pro bono matters across our global platform,” Groff said. “We are excited to continue working with the Paladin team and to further explore features of the Paladin Report Builder.”
